League One Wycombe host Premier League Fulham at Adams Park in the League Cup round of 16; the hosts will be looking to take a major scalp after overcoming Leyton Orient, Bromley and Wigan so far. The visitors will be vying for a spot in the quarter-final after having overcome Football League opposition in the two previous rounds of the tournament (Bristol City and Cambridge).

Fulham to Win & Both Teams to Score

If you're looking for singles, the Fulham win is 1.44 and BTTS is at 1.85. The combined price is bigger, despite being the exact same bet, via the 'Result & Both to Score' market at 3.30, where combining the two singles only comes out at 2.90.

While it’s been an underwhelming start to the campaign for Wycombe, finding the net hasn’t been an issue for them over the last two months. Wycombe have now scored in 11 consecutive games in all competitions, there’s clearly a tendency to produce a goal from somewhere. The hosts have failed to score in home games just once this season.

Home advantage is key for an occasion such as this, and Fulham will probably have to withstand some pressure at certain points in the match.

With defeats in their last four Premier League matches, Fulham are becoming a leaky backline, conceding an average of 2.25 goals across all those matches. The visitors are yet to pick up an away clean sheet this campaign, conceding two or more goals in all but one of their away fixtures.

While Fulham may have picked up clean sheets in their previous League Cup home games against Football League opposition, away games throw up a different challenge altogether. Given Fulham’s poor form on the road, there should be an incentive for the hosts to be aggressive in their approach.

Accounting for the struggles Fulham have endured of late, I think there will be an eagerness about them to secure a positive result on Tuesday night. At this stage of the competition, Premier League clubs understand that it’s a realistic chance of winning a trophy or getting to a final at Wembley. Marco Silva will be confident of avoiding relegation this season, despite a poor start. The League Cup won’t be seen as an unnecessary distraction. Therefore, I expect a strong XI and for them to each the quarter-final.

Even against League Two Cambridge, Silva started Raul Jimenez, Emile Smith Rowe, Kevin and Adama Traore, while Samuel Chukwueze, Rodrigo Muniz and Harry Wilson were introduced from the bench. Needing to spark a change in fortunes, Silva may go even stronger with a spot in the last eight up for grabs.

📈 Wycombe v Fulham Form & Stats

It’s been a turbulent start to the campaign for Wycombe. After securing just one win from their first eight league games, Mike Dodds was sacked and replaced with Michael Duff. Despite a few indifferent spells while managing Swansea and Huddersfield most recently, Duff has hit the ground running at Wycombe, picking up five wins, two draws, and one defeat from his first eight games in all competitions.

Wycombe have climbed up the league in the process; they’re now sitting in 17th position and three points clear of the relegation places. Mid-table security, with an outside chance of the play-offs, is probably a realistic aim for The Chairboys this season.

While Fulham have cemented themselves as part of the Premier League furniture in recent years, there are some mild concerns about a relegation-threatened season after losing their last four league games. Admittedly, those defeats came against very capable sides at the level. Fulham currently sit in 17th place, just one position and three points clear of 18th-placed Nottingham Forest.
