As the host nation, Germany automatically qualified for this year’s tournament and only competed in friendlies during the qualification stages. Germany come into this tournament as the third favorites behind England and France, trading at a price of 6.50
After a pretty underwhelming performance during Euro 2020, crashing out in the Round of 16 to the hands of finalists England, they’ll be very eager to put on a better show for the home support. Before that edition of the Euros, they had reached two consecutive semi finals.
Germany will certainly be satisfied with their group draw, pitting them up against Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland. The hosts are the highest ranked nation in Group A, ranked 16th, while the other sides follow in 39th, 26th and 19th respectively. A price of 1.40 for Germany to come out on top of Group A seems like a good price, especially considering the impressive form of their players from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. Germany have qualified for all of the last four knockout stages since Euro 2008, finishing in the top spot twice. To match their best efforts in recent efforts in the Euros, a price of 11/10 for the hosts to reach the final four could be worth a look in.
Germany were victorious against France and the Netherlands in their last two friendly fixtures, fielding a 4-2-3-1 formation rammed with attacking talent. They registered 6 and 7 shots on target in those games, scoring two goals in each – they’ll certainly be a goal scoring threat so keep an eye out on the goals markets in their group stage efforts. Sticking with goals, in Germany’s 13 games since their World Cup exit in December 2022, they have kept only two clean sheets, so be sure to watch out for both teams to score selections too.
There are a number of key attacking assets to keep in mind, with Florian Wirtz, Kai Havertz and Niclas Fullkrug all having fantastic campaigns and all netted across Germany’s last two friendlies. This may give Julian Nagelsmann some team management headaches, but they’ll certainly be an attacking force to reckon with, especially considering their depth.
