🏆

⭐ Netherlands v Hungary Best Bets
Netherlands and Hungary are essentially battling for second place in Nations League A Group 3. Both countries are on 5 points having won once, drawn twice and lost once in their four matches to date. They are currently separated by goal difference – Netherlands +2, Hungary -3. Germany are clear at the top of the group on 10 points and play Bosnia, bottom of the group with 1 point at the same time Netherlands and Hungary are playing.
Netherlands have a better feel to them in Amsterdam than when they play away from home. At home they’ve created 4.09xG, restricted Bosnia to just four shots on matchday 1 and then created 2.33xG against Germany on matchday 2. They’ve scored seven goals in their two matches at the Johan Cruijff Arena. By contrast on away matchday’s 3 and 4 they were held to 1.23xG by Hungary and just 0.13xG by Germany and have scored just one solo goal.
Netherlands can guarantee 2nd place with a win here as the Nations League tie-breaker is goal difference in the games played by the teams tied on points. The home advantage should pay dividends.

👕 Netherlands v Hungary Predicted XI
🔍 Netherlands v Hungary Players To Watch
🟠 Tijjani Reijnders
Tijjani Reijnders is having a stellar season. The AC Milan man is establishing himself as an elite level footballer and is now rightly considered amongst the world’s best midfielders.
Reijnders’ is capable of playing as a 6, 8, or 10 as he has such an adaptable skillset. For his country, Reijnders has been excelling in an advanced role in recent times as The Dutch have fell on multiple different options to play in the double pivot behind him.
In the four Nations League matches this season Reijnders shot numbers read 5-1-5-0 with 5/11 shots on target and two goals.
Reijnders’ impressive numbers aren’t restricted to international football. He has scored four goals in his last four Milan appearances and has had at least one shot in 12/14 club matches this season
⚪️ Tamas Nikitscher
The Hungarian midfield have their work cut out here. The last two international have seen Andras Schafer and Tamas Nikitscher pair in the engine room. If selected, the duo will be tasked with keeping shackles on Reijnders who could drop to give The Dutch a one man overload in the middle of the pitch.
In eighteen appearances for club and country this season, only twice has he managed to not concede a foul. On five occasions he has committed more than one and in his the last international fixture against Bosnia & Herzegovina he had the referee blowing his whistle on four occasions, and he was booked.
With a strict referee officiating on Saturday, yellow cards are expected. This, combined with the expected battle for supremacy in midfield and the likelihood of Netherlands dominating the ball means Nikitscher is walking a disciplinary tightrope even before a ball is kicked.

💻 Netherlands v Hungary Form and Tactics
Since beating Bosnia on matchday 1, Netherlands have stuttered a little. They drew 2-2 with Germany in a end to end contest before being frustrated by Hungary in Budapest. They drew the match 1-1 but it took a late equaliser from Denzel Dumfries, a goal that came after The Dutch had been reduced to ten men because of a red card to Virgil van Dijk.
Their last performance, a 1-0 defeat in Germany is one they’d like to forget. They only managed three shots at goal, one from inside the penalty area for a poultry xG figure of 0.13.
Ronald Koeman has fully transitioned his team away from a stodgy 5-3-2 into a more vibrant 4-2-3-1 which is now their stock formation. In possession this becomes a 3-2-5 or a 2-3-5 with the left back inverting. The right back, most often Denzel Dumfries becomes the fifth attacker by either over or under-lapping winger Xavi Simons who in turn will either drift inside to become a second 10 with Tijjani Reijnders or will keep width on the right.
Cody Gakpo is likely to be called on to provide threat on the left flank although he faces competition for his place from PSV’s Noa Lang. It’s reported that Frenkie de Jong will be fit enough to play a part in midfield where he could partner Liverpool sensation Ryan Gravenberch. Quinten Timber and Mads Wieffer are other options here.
Hungary have a symmetrical look to the Netherlands’ form. After losing in matchday 1, 5-0 to Germany they played out two home draws, 0-0 with Bosnia & Herzegovina and 1-1 with Netherlands. They beat Bosnia & Herzegovina 2-0 in their last match.
Hungary play in a familiar looking 3-4-3. The two wide forwards, Roland Sallai and talisman, Dominik Szoboszlai play narrow and essentially form a box midfield with two more defensive players behind them. The width is produced by the wing-backs and this is where the Hungarians are facing problems. Bournemouth left wing-back Milos Kerkez has pulled out of the squad with an injury.
His attacking nature allows Szoboszlai to play free and pick up pockets of space. The absence of Kerkez significantly weakens Hungary’s left hand side.
