Jarrod Bowen is the best player in the Championship this season for me, he could easily be playing at the top level in the Premier League and should end the campaign with a decent goal haul.

He’s already got off the mark this season with a well taken goal against Portsmouth from two shots. He’s reached double digits across all competitions for goals in each of his last five seasons with West Ham, and will also be on penalties for the Hammers throughout the campaign.

Bowen maintained an average of 0.74 shots on target per 90 in the Premier League last season, a rate I would expect to increase this campaign given that he’s dropped down to a lower level with the same quality he’s shown over the last few campaigns.

Hannibal is always a good player to back for fouls, and I think he’ll have quite a lot of work to get through in this opening clash of the season for Burnley.

Hannibal has never quite managed to tame his aggressive nature, resulting in consistently high foul counts. He committed 24 fouls across 15 starts in the Premier League last season (1.75 per 90), notably collecting 10 yellow cards in the process. 

He’ll be up against a West Ham side who will be confident enough to keep the ball as the away side with his direct opponents including Edson Alvarez (1.64 fouls won per 90) and Lewis Orford (0.81 fouls won per 90). 

I expect West Ham to be amongst the top sides in the Championship for corners this season given that they will be able to dominate most games, and have two wide players in Bowen and Solomon who will cause problems on the flanks.

West Ham averaged 4.92 corners per game in the Premier League last season, and have a lot of potential threats from these set piece situations - including Mavropanos, who averaged 0.82 shots per 90 in the Premier League last season.

Most teams will sit quite deep against West Ham in the Championship this season, which also aids their chances of registering a healthy corner count in the majority of their matches. 

West Ham are shaping up as the team to beat in the Championship, and they carried that authority straight into the season with a commanding 3‑1 cup win over Portsmouth.

Bowen and Castellanos both found the net in that fixture, and that kind of attacking firepower should serve the Hammers well over the long haul, especially against sides that simply cannot match that same quality in the final third.

Burnley, meanwhile, have watched a host of key figures depart over the summer, and they now turn to a manager with no previous experience at this level. 

Their preseason produced no victories, and they could only manage a stalemate against Notts County in the EFL Cup before this contest, hardly the ideal preparation for facing one of the division's strongest outfits.

West Ham look like the best side in the Championship and come into the season having recorded a 3-1 win over Portsmouth in the EFL Cup.

Bowen and Castellanos got on the scoresheet in that game, and that firepower is likely to serve West Ham well in a league that will struggle to match that level of attacking quality.

Burnley have lost a lot of key players over the summer and have a manager who has never been in the Championship before. They failed to win any of their friendly matches, and were held by Notts County in the EFL Cup prior to this match. 

Feyenoord won their opening game of the season to nil on the road against Sparta Rotterdam with an xG of 3.59.

Feyenoord won all five of their friendlies in the build up to the campaign, and have not lost a game since the 1st March - winning 10 of their 15 games in this period.

Feyenoord have Giovanni Van Bronckhorst at the helm who has positive experience with the club having led them to the Eredivisie title back in the 16/17 campaign.

Go Ahead Eagles fell to a 1-0 defeat when these sides met earlier this year, and only won two of their 17 away games last season.

Southampton started the season strongly with a 2-0 win over Colchester in the EFL Cup, building on the three wins they managed from three games in pre-season.

Tonda Eckert’s side avoided defeat in both head to head meetings with Watford last season, earning a point at Vicarage Road. Southampton avoided defeat in 69% of their away matches last year.

Watford have been inconsistent in pre-season and required a 99th minute winner to get past Crawley in their EFL Cup first round tie, Saints should be able to avoid defeat. 

Molde have seen 3+ goals in each of their last nine matches, stretching all the way back to the middle of May.

They take on a Tromso side who are desperately trying to keep up with Viking and Bodo Glimt as the pace setters in the Eliteserien.

Tromso have seen 3+ goals in four of their last five matches, most recently firing five goals past Cluj as part of Conference League qualifying.
