Friday's Brazilian Serie A Accumulator Tips

Fixtures for: Friday 13th June

Gremio v Corinthians

Brazilian Serie A

00:00

Gremio (+1) Handicap

Gremio have plenty of problems away from the pitch, but they aren't impacting them on it. Despite uproar over a lack of investment and hike in ticket prices, new head coach Mano Menezes has steadied the ship.

His style of play may not be glamorous, but he knows how to bring stability to a struggling side - and he’s done just that. Unbeaten in four - and with four clean sheets to their name - Gremio are growing in confidence. Back-to-back league wins against Bahia and Juventude have propelled them away from the relegation zone.

Corinthians also have a new boss - but so far, it hasn’t been a great start. Last year, Timao were all about fluidity, goals and pressing their opponents. But now, it’s almost the opposite, and their ability to win without Yuri Alberto or Memphis Depay just isn’t there.

They’ve drawn a blank in their last three matches, while only scoring two in their last five - one coming against Serie B outfit Novorizontino in the cup.

Alberto - last season’s golden boot winner - remains out with a back injury, while Depay will be flying back from international duty. He may not start. Without those, Gremio look a good bet in the +1 handicap market.

Atletico Mineiro v Internacional

Brazilian Serie A

01:30

Atletico Mineiro to Win

Internacional were meant to challenge for the title this season. Instead, they are fighting to stay within touching distance of the top six after just 11 matches. The reason? Injures. And lots of them.

They had no less than 10 first team injuries as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against Fluminense at home last week, and only one is set to return for their match against Mineiro. It’s unfortunate times for Internacional, but this is where we can find a good betting angle.

Galo head into this contest unbeaten in their last seven (W4 D3) and even more impressively, they are unbeaten in 18 matches in front of their fans.

Their investment - which saw Palmeiras’ Rony and Botafogo’s Junior Santos - join in the off-season - has so far been successful. Combined with their star players Gustavo Scarpa, Alan Franco and Hulk, Mineiro have built a side capable of returning back to the Copa Libertadores next season.

Solid at home vs a side struggling to field a competitive XI, Mineiro can win once more.

Sao Paulo v Vasco

Brazilian Serie A

01:30

Sao Paulo to Win

It’s 12th vs 15th in round 12 and although the hosts arrive into this match underperforming, their opponents are going through a transitional period.

After a poor start to the season, Vasco chose to change managers and bring in former Brazil head coach Fernando Diniz. The man who won the Copa Libertadores with Fluminense in 2023 is a very good appointment - but his style of play takes quite some time to embed within his squad - and away from home, it is often very ineffective.

That’s because Diniz wants his team to hunt in packs, play without positions and be creative. Whether Vasco currently have those players is a fair question. But they head into this match having lost all five away matches, and they haven’t won any of their last 10 on the road (D2 L8).

This style of play works wonders at home but during Diniz’s reign at Fluminense and more recently Cruzeiro, it hasn’t on their travels.

Sao Paulo remain without Lucas Moura and Oscar for this fixture, but they do welcome back Alisson and Andre Silva after they return from their suspensions. Exciting young forward Ryan Francisco will lead the line, and it’s only a matter of time before he bursts into life. Back the hosts to edge past a side getting to grips with a new style of play.
