It has been a slower start to life this campaign than expected for big spenders Mineiro, but they remain unbeaten at home - and often dominate from start to finish. Having drawn their first two matches, Galo finally got over the line with a 1-0 win against Botafogo.

Away from predicting whether or not Mineiro can continue winning on home soil, it’s hard to ignore how well they dominate the corner count. In their 0-0 draw with Sao Paulo, the game finished with 16 - yet 12 belonged to the hosts. When they drew 2-2 with Vitoria, they won 16 of their own. Against Botafogo, the match finished with 12 - and Galo secured eight.

Fluminense have been stronger than expected this campaign, and Galo’s 4-3-3 will try to target their full-backs and get in behind once more. This should lead to a flurry of corners, and with Flu averaging four themselves on the road this season, the over 9.5 line can easily be hit once more.

A fierce derby awaits at Allianz Parque on Sunday night and although the hosts are clear favourites, the bookmakers have underestimated the significance of this match for both teams.

Away from their rivalry, Sao Paulo are sneaking under the radar - and they are doing it without their best players. They’ve played 12 games this season across all competitions, and they’ve yet to lose once (W5 D7) - proving incredibly difficult to break down yet dangerous on the break.

Domestically, Palmeiras have been in good form, but averaging just over one goal per match, their new look team hasn’t quite hit top gear yet - and their 1-0 home defeat when last seen against Bahia shows they aren’t quite firing on all cylinders. Sao Paulo can frustrate them and keep their unbeaten run going.

Looking to complete the treble, we’re off to Rio de Janeiro, where Internacional will be looking to get back on track. Having suffered a 4-2 loss last time out on the road against Corinthians, Roger Machado’s team finally suffered their first away defeat in 2025. 

However, a red card and two stoppage time goals made the result look far worse than what it was. Inter were in control before Bruno Henrique was sent off.

Botafogo haven’t lost at home yet - but wins against Juventude and Fluminense aren’t going to intimidate one of the better sides in the league. And Botafogo have their own issues. New head coach Renato Paiva hasn’t won his players - or fans - over with their performances this campaign.

However, John Textor, Botafogo’s owner, has come out publicly to support Paiva and tell the players they need to step up - perhaps not his smartest move if he’s trying to keep his team happy during a difficult period.

Inter have won three of their last five trips to Nilton Santos, and won’t be intimidated by the reigning - albeit very different - champions.
