2/1 Brentford v Crystal Palace Bet Builder Level 1
Bet builder predictions that are eligible for Paddy Power Super Sub will be marked with this emoji ‘🔄️’.
🎯 Ivan Toney to have 1+ shots on target 🔄️
📈 Odds: 1.36
Although Toney was only able to play 1500 minutes last season, we still saw enough to suggest he’s a great pick in the shots on target market.
No Brentford player topped his average of 1.37 per 90 which suggests he’s a great pick. Having Carvalho behind him should help generate even more opportunities.
He fired at least one on goal in 75% of his 16 starts with the exceptions being tough matches against Man United, Chelsea and Man City twice.
We can also expect him to be on penalties and some free kicks which is significant given Crystal Palace committed the 5th most fouls in the league last season, averaging 12 per game.
🎯 Eberechi Eze to have 1+ shots on target 🔄️
📈 Odds: 1.62
Fan favourite, Eberechi Eze was in fine form last season, racking up 83 shots and 34 shots on target in just 2000 minutes.
He tested the keeper in five of his first six matches including one away at Brentford. In the reverse fixture, he found the back of the net from one of his two shots on target.
That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise given the ever-apparent defensive issues that frustrated Brentford. Only three surviving teams conceded more goals than The Bees who struggled in that department.
🛑 Odsonne Edouard to commit 1+ fouls 🔄️
📈 Odds: 1.25
Although Edouard may not be the first player that comes to mind when you think foul, his record speaks for itself; Edouard averaged a huge 1.8 fouls per game last season.
He sinned in 14 of his 17 starts despite often coming off early. As such it’s possible that Paddy Power Super Sub will come in handy for this selection.
If he does come off, his likely replacement would be Jean-Philippe Mateta who also averaged 1.4 fouls per game.
⚽️ Over 1.5 goals
📈 Odds: 1.20
Over the course of Brentford’s last league season, they scored 56 while conceding 65 – an average of 3.2 goals per game
Crystal Palace maintained a similar average of over 3 goals per match.
There have been over 1.5 goals with both teams scoring in each of the last four games between Crystal Palace and Brentford.

🛑 Daichi Kamada to commit 2+ fouls
📈 Odds: 1.83
Tipped to make his debut following his move from Lazio over the summer, Kamada brings with him a few really interesting betting angles.
One of these is in the fouls market; the Japanese national averaged 2.3 fouls per 90 last season in Serie A, significantly more than any other Palace player.
He committed at least one foul in all of his 17 league starts, sinning twice or more in 11.
He also got off to a quick start, committing ten fouls in his first 260 minutes of football that season. Given the increased intensity in the Premier League, he may have a tough time adjusting and should slip up a few times.
🩹 Odsonne Edouard to be fouled 1+ times 🔄️
📈 Odds: 1.67
A thorn in the side of defenders, as well as using the dark arts when possible, Edouard also tends to suffer from them, with his big frame making it easier to get caught after 50/50 challenges.
Last season he averaged a foul drawn every 70 minutes which was a big improvement compared to the season before.
Brentford averaged 10 fouls per game with one of their main perpetrators being Kristoffer Ajer who averaged 1.23 per match. This will definitely be a clash to look out for and should help our case.
He was taken out at least once in 12 of his 17 starts despite often coming off early. Notably, the most he drew in one match was three, coming in the league opener against Sheffield United.
🎯 Crystal Palace to have 4+ shots on target
📈 Odds: 1.62
After a stellar end to their last campaign and impressive pre-season form in the goalscoring department, 4 shots on target seems a modest target for the high-soaring Eagles.
They’ve played two friendlies against Premier League opposition, the first producing four shots on target against Wolves before testing the West Ham keeper eight times more recently.
Last season they averaged 4.4 shots on target per match, particularly excelling towards the end of the season where they hit the tally in seven of their last eight.
Brentford, on the other hand struggled, defensively, allowing 4+ shots on target in 25 of their 38 league matches. They were without Rico Henry for large parts of the season, who remains in recovery, which should boost Palace’s chances.
🏆 Crystal Palace to win
📈 Odds: 2.90
As referenced earlier, Oliver Glasner’s men truly did finish last season in remarkable form, securing five wins and a draw in their final six matches. Notably, this included triumphs over Liverpool, Newcastle, and West Ham, alongside a resounding 4-0 trouncing of Manchester United and a dominant 5-0 victory against Aston Villa to cap off the season.
Their 3-1 pre-season victories against Wolves and West Ham indicate they may have carried this form on and it comes as a surprise (to us at least) that Brentford go into this as favourites.
Palace finished six places and nine points above Brentford, who were just two places above the relegation zone. The last time these sides came head-to-head, Keane Lewis-Potter struck within the first 90 seconds, setting a new record for Brentford’s fastest-ever Premier League goal. However, their fortunes soon changed as an Eze strike and a Michael Olise double ended the Eagles’ eight-match winless streak.
