Enormous game for the Gers in Denmark on Thursday evening in their quest for qualification from Group A. The Scottish champs are struggling down in 3rd place, a point behind Sparta Prague in 2nd and 6 points off group leaders Lyon who have taken maximum points from their 3 group games. They will certainly fancy their chances against Danish outfit Brondby who are struggling both in Europe and domestically. Sixth in the Danish table is far from ideal considering they won the league last year and they have managed just 1 point from their 3 Europa League games so far. The situation at Rangers is looking pretty good once again domestically with Gerrard’s men top of the league with a four-point cushion to rivals Celtic. They also come into Thursday’s game on the back of an impressive performance, having thrashed Motherwell 6-1 on their own turf at the weekend. They are firm favourites with the bookmakers in this one but no doubt it will still be a very game tough as they head to face the reigning Danish champs. Brondby v Rangers Bet Builder Tips
Fashion Sakala 1+ Shots on Target
Tough Rangers lineup to predict but you have to think Sakala will be involved following his fantastic hat-trick against Motherwell at the weekend. Sakala was making only his fourth start for Gers when he fired in a treble in the 6-1 hammering at Fir Park. All major local sources suggest the Zambian will be given the nod from the start once again and fans are thinking the same and it would be a major shock should Gerrard decide to leave him out. He is full on confidence just now and I fancy him to register a shot on target on Thursday night.
His Cheat Sheet stats are mightily impressive too and he is quite clearly the standout player for Rangers as you can see. The main question really is whether he starts but if he does then he is most definitely my tip here. He averages 2.29 shots on target from the 3.73 shots he attempts and at a price of 1.36 offers reasonable value to kick things off.
Sigurd Rosted to be Carded
For a card I really like the look of Norwegian defender Sigurd Rosted to find his way into the referees notebook on Thursday night. Rosted is expected to play on the left side of a back three, and will likely be up against Aribo who you can see from the Cheat Sheet draws a lot of fouls per game. He was booked in his last game prior to this against Viborg to take his tally to the season to 4 which is more than any other player in the Brondby squad this season.
Rosted was actually involved in a controversial moment in the 57th minute of the reverse fixture where the Norwegian defender appeared to foul Aribo for a penalty but it wasn’t given, it got a fair bit of media attention as Aribo was clearly tripped and on another day with another referee would almost certainly of been a yellow. Worth also mentioning the referee (Nikola Dabanovic) brandished 8 yellow cards in the one and only Europa League game he has officiated this season which is certainly a positive omen!
Simon Hedlund 1+ Shots on Target
For the hosts, I like the look of Swedish striker Simon Hedlund to register a shot on goal on Thursday night. The two strikers up front, Hedlund and Uhre, are both very valuable to Brondby. Uhre who is the top scorer for the Danes has been missing with an ankle injury recently but is fully expected to return here. He will start up front with Hedlund and the two have a telepathic relationship which saw them notch a combined 30 goals in all competitions last season. Uhre is more of the goalscorer but at odds of 1.3 I feel has very little value to his selection. Hedlund is priced at 1.67 which given his impressive Cheat Sheet stats represents very decent value.
The Swede averages a very respectable 1.02 shots on target per game from the 1.88 shots he attempts and for me is the standout selection from a Brondby point of view in this one.
