Burnley need to start picking up points, especially at home, and whilst this is a tough assignment, every Premier League game is tough. Palace will be disappointed to have let a half time lead slip at home to Man Utd on Sunday, but Oliver Glasner will be concentrating on getting his team back on the horse for this.

📈 Burnley v Crystal Palace Form & Stats

Burnley started with their heads above water, but there is a sinking feeling to their recent form. Scott Parker was even talking like this in the post-match interview after the Brentford game, saying how they knew what the season was going to look like before it started. At the moment, it looks like four defeats in a row, and slipping into 19th place.

It is now 10 points from 13 matches and nine defeats in that spell; only Wolves have suffered defeat more often. The data suggests that they will find it difficult to improve unless performances change. Burnley sit bottom for expected goals for and bottom for expected goals against so far this season.

Crystal Palace have been genuine European place contenders for most of this season. However, it is so tight that the turnaround against Man Utd in the last match means that the Eagles now perch in 10th, rather than 5th as they were at half time in that match. That is two defeats in a row after their loss to Strasbourg in the Conference League, and with only two wins in their last seven Premier League matches, Palace could do with a win here to re-establish their top team credentials.

Earlier in the season, Palace topped a lot of the attacking metrics. Their crown has slipped somewhat, but they are still 4th for xG for, 8th for shots on target, and 4th for big chances created. The fact that they are 13th for touches in the opponents’ box shows that they are not a team that occupies that final third space as much as other clubs, but they are effective with their touches there.

📔 Burnley v Crystal Palace Formation & Team News

Burnley have been using a 4-3-3 system most recently, with the wide forwards very much expected to track back and help their full backs. Zian Flemming has been something of a bonus for the Clarets, very much not first choice CF at the beginning of the season. He has impressed at this level with four goals in five matches.

There are no new injury or suspension concerns for Scott Parker for this match, but he may choose to rotate a couple of players. Hannibal Mejbri looks like a likely candidate for a rotation in midfield.

Oliver Glasner is unlikely to move away from their 3-4-2-1 shape with Jean-Phillipe Mateta leading the line to provide a focal point.

One of Palace's attacking stars, Ismaila Sarr, will not take part here after leaving the stadium on crutches on Sunday. This could open the door for Eddie Nketiah to make a play for a starting role in the team.
