  • Everton have only won four of their 14 league matches at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season, failing to win any of their last six in front of a home crowd.

  • By contrast, they rank 3rd in the Premier League for total points accumulated in their away games, only behind Man City and Arsenal.

  • Burnley have only won two of their 14 away games in the league this season, but they have still managed to score 17 goals. 33 goals conceded, however, ranks them as the worst defensive unit in the league when playing away.

📈 Everton v Burnley Form & Stats

Burnley were desperately unlucky not to make it three Premier League games unbeaten on Saturday afternoon, as they suffered a 4-3 defeat against Brentford. The visitors raced into a 3-0 lead in the first half at Turf Moor, before the Clarets put together an impressive turnaround inspired by Jaidon Anthony. Zian Flemming equalised in the 60th minute, before then having a goal chalked off for a narrow offside shout.

It was Brentford who struck next in stoppage time through Mikkel Damsgaard, and just when it looked like there was one more twist in the tale, Ashley Barnes had his 103rd-minute goal ruled out for a handball. It has been a dismal season for Burnley, but they have at least carried a threat in recent weeks.

Everton had a much better result at the weekend, and they owe a lot of credit to Jordan Pickford. The Englishman managed four saves at St James’ Park, including one spectacular effort to deny Sandro Tonali late on.

Nick Pope had a bit of a disaster on the opposite side of the field, as he spilt one into the path of Beto to open the scoring. It was Thierno Barry’s unconventional finish in the 83rd minute that secured all three points for the Toffees, lifting them into the top half of the Premier League table.

📔 Everton v Burnley Formation & Team News

Dwight McNeil was a surprise starter at St James’ Park, which meant Harrison Armstrong only featured from the bench, and Tyrique George was an unused substitute. Barry made a key impact off the bench and looks set to replace Beto up front here, while Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will hope to provide for the striker again. Jarrad Branthwaite scored from a corner at the weekend, and he should partner James Tarkowski at the back, with Michael Keane on the bench.

After being withdrawn at half time against Chelsea, Kyle Walker was an unused substitute against Brentford last time out, and Scott Parker mentioned a need to switch things up. Josh Laurent could continue at right wing back, while Lesley Ugochukwu will also be hoping to break back into the starting XI. Armando Broja remains sidelined, so Flemming looks set to continue up top, while Marcus Edwards missed out at the weekend due to a knock, so his involvement midweek is also uncertain.
