Burnley will be looking to give their chances of Premier League survival a boost by earning a win over Everton at Turf Moor on Saturday, with the visitors looking to secure their fourth successive Premier League victory.
The Clarets’ poor start to this campaign is among the worst-ever in the Premier League and there’ll definitely be some fear of returning to the Championship amongst fans. But there have certainly been signs of improvement in recent weeks, smashing Sheffield Utd 5-0 at Turf Moor and picking up a hard-fought point away at Brighton last week. Despite this uplift in form they remain 5 points from safety where Everton sit 17th – bringing even more to the table for this game.
Sean Dyche’s side have launched themselves out of the relegation zone following their 10-point deduction and are on the hunt to get themselves back to where they were. Everton are looking like a genuinely cohesive unit that could cause danger to any side right now but with some suspensions for key cogs of that machine on Saturday, there could be the chance for some slip ups.

⚽ Match stats: The Toffees to continue their success
Sean Dyche returns to Turf Moor on Saturday night as he looks to extend his side’s impressive winning streak and there is likely to be no love lost here. The Toffees have won four of their last five, keeping three clean sheets in the process and it seems that their performances are finally turning into results, especially on the attacking end.
Everton have scored six goals in their last three games, an area of which they have struggled with all season, despite racking up respectable xG numbers. They still remain eight goals short of their xG but they’re certainly looking better in front of goal and scoring three past a notoriously strong Newcastle defence is a big testament to that.
Burnley have the worst home record in the Premier League this season, conceding an average of 2.5 goals a game there. With only one win in eight at Turf Moor it’s feeling more like a home disadvantage at the moment for Burnley, and with their visitors victorious in their last three road trips in the Premier League, it’ll certainly be another tough home fixture.
Predictions:
🏆 Everton to win @ 2.05
🏆 Everton draw no bet @ 1.45
🎯 Shooting stats: Everton duo to shine
Dwight McNeil is continuing to show off his brilliance after some great performances over his last three games. McNeil scored in back-to-back victories against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle and showed great promise in the outing against Chelsea last weekend – he’s certainly looking like a goal threat at the moment.
McNeil has hit the target in all of Everton’s previous five Premier League games and has had at least two shots on goals in seven of his last 11 games in the league. He’s averaging 2.19 shots per 90 with 0.70 hitting the target but his recent form certainly suggests more promise from him on Saturday.
Coming up against a very leaky Burnley defence that are conceding an average of 15 shots per 90 in the Premier League this season, McNeil is likely to get some more chances at goal this weekend.
Another Toffee’s man in form is Abdoulaye Doucoure who is continuing his great season with goals in consecutive league games against Chelsea and Newcastle, he’ll certainly be looking to make it three.
Doucoure has established himself as Everton’s leading marksman with six goals, and is having great success in his new role this year, averaging 1.81 shots on goal per 90. Facing a fragile Burnley backline, the Mali international could certainly pose more threats at goal. He looks a lovely price to continue his hot-streak in front of goal, a great angle for those high-odds bet builders.
Predictions:
🚀 Dwight McNeil to have 2+ shots @ 1.44
🎯 Dwight McNeil to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.73
🚀 Abdoulaye Doucoure to have 2+ shots @ 1.53
🎯 Abdoulaye Doucoure to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.73
⚽ Abdoulaye Doucoure to score anytime @ 4.00
🛑 Fouls stats: Everton and Onana look safe bets
A great market for Everton games in recent weeks has been their team total fouls, they’re loving getting stuck.
The Toffees are averaging 12.50 fouls committed per 90 minutes, one of the top averages in the league, and they’re finally seeing the consequences with suspensions racking up.
Everton have picked up 10+ fouls in seven consecutive Premier League games which extends to at least 12 fouls in 11 of their 16 outings this season so there’s certainly a love for fouls in this team.
Their last seven league games have seen the Toffees commit 12,18,14,10,18,15,11 fouls and Burnley are drawing in a decent number of fouls during their home games. Some key absences from the visitors starting lineup could make this a more scrappy affair.
A key absence of Idrissa Gueye may leave Amadou Onana a little more exposed than usual and force him to adopt the fouling master role. Onana is picking up 1.40 fouls per 90 in the league this season and drawing in 2.24 fouls, showing his love for battles for possession.
The Belgium midfielder will be facing up against the likes of Zeki Amdouni and Josh Brownhill who are drawing in 2.14 and 1.10 fouls per 90 respectively, which could be his undoing on Saturday if the midfield battle gets out of hand.
Predictions:
🛑 Everton to commit 11+ fouls @ 1.30
🛑 Everton to commit 12+ fouls @ 1.57
🛑 Amadou Onana to commit 1+ fouls @ 1.17
🛑 Amadou Onana to commit 2+ fouls @ 1.91
