Ibrahima Konate to Commit 1+ Fouls

"Konate committed a foul against Burnley last time out, taking his tally to four fouls committed across his four Premier League appearances this season, with at least one foul committed in three of these matches. He’s more aggressive than Van Dijk and will be in regular duels against Alexander Sorloth here.

Sorloth is a very physical player, and I’m surprised he hasn’t been eyed up by a Premier League side. I’d compare him to Jorgen Strand Larsen in terms of his profile, and his strength should aid our selection here. Sorloth is likely to start with Alvarez injured for this game, which is a big blow for Atletico Madrid.

Sorloth won 13 fouls across his 15 starts in LaLiga last season (0.75 per 90). He offers him a target man up front, which will allow the away side to be direct to him, both on the ground and in the air, which is where he will contest many of his duels against Konate."

Milos Kerkez to Commit 1+ Fouls

"Some people thought it was a bit harsh from Slot to take off Kerkez in the first half against Burnley, but I thought it was good management. Kerkez was on a yellow card and kept flying into tackles, against a Burnley side that more often than not were targeting Liverpool down his side.

This isn’t the first time that Slot has done this. I remember his first game in charge of Liverpool in the Premier League away against Ipswich, where he took off Quansah at half-time to replace him with Konate, citing the threat that Liam Delap was causing Liverpool against Quansah.

Liverpool were much better in the second half of that game and secured the three points; the same thing happened against Burnley.

I don’t think Kerkez is going to change too much; he is an aggressive player and likes to get tight to his marker. He’s picked up two yellow cards across his four Premier League appearances this season and three fouls across these games.

He’ll be lining up against Simeone here, who was fouled five times in Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Villarreal last time out."

Michael Olise to have 1+ Shots on Target

"Olise has made an electric start to the season, and his shot volume across the opening few weeks of the campaign really stands out.

Olise has had 16 shots across his three Bundesliga matches so far (5.33 per 90), with nine of these shots finding the target (3.00 per 90).

This record has returned three goals for Olise so far this campaign, with the 23-year-old aiming to eclipse the 17 goals he scored for Bayern last year in his debut season for the German giants.

Olise was just as much of a shot threat last season as he has been across the opening few games of the season - Olise averaged 3.30 shots and 1.38 shots on target per 90 across his 34 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring 12 goals in the process.

Olise was also a real shot threat in the Champions League last season with 41 shots across his 14 appearances in the competition (3.57 per 90).

13 of these efforts found the target (1.13 per 90), which works out at 32% shot accuracy. This is admittedly lower than his shot accuracy in the Bundesliga but the volume of shots gives him a good chance of finding the target here."

Dayot Upamecano to Commit 1+ Fouls

"I’ve always thought that Upamecano is a bit of a clumsy centre back; he never looks comfortable as the last line of defence and regularly oversteps the mark.

Upamecano has committed two fouls across his three appearances in the Bundesliga this season (0.80 per 90) - these two fouls came in the opening game of the season against Leipzig but the Frenchman was also shown a yellow card in Bayern’s demolition of Hamburg last time out.

Upamecano was regularly caught out in the Champions League last season, committing seven fouls across his 11 appearances in the competition (0.64 per 90). This average may not seem that high but it’s worth noting that many of those games that Bayern contested, in the league phase in particular, were pretty one-sided and didn’t see the Bayern players have to contest many duels.

This shouldn’t be the case here with Upamecano lining up against Joao Pedro. Joao Pedro has won seven fouls across his four appearances in the Premier League this season (1.90 per 90) and averaged 2.12 fouls won per 90 across his 27 appearances for Brighton in the Premier League last season."

Nikola Krstovic to have 2+ Shots

"Perhaps the best value on offer in this game is found backing  Krstović to fire off two or more shots at 1.4. For reference, this selection is priced as short as 1.13 with Paddy Power.

The forward, who signed for Atalanta over the summer, averaged over 4 shots per game last season despite being relatively starved of opportunities at Lecce, who finished just one place above the relegation zone.

He managed 2 assists against his old side last time round, and since his arrival has averaged north of 6 shots per game, having racked up 14 in little over two 90’s. If you’re after a bigger sample frame, it also pays dividends to look at his stats for Monenegro, for whom he’s averaged 5.8 shots per 90 across 5 full games this season."
