📈 Millwall v Charlton Form & Tactics

Millwall's situation this season is a great example of what the Championship is like this season. They are unpredictable and inconsistent, and, indeed, they have a negative goal difference despite the fact that they are in the top six. They lost to Coventry away in midweek, which is obviously not a black mark against them, but they did manage an excellent performance and result at Watford last weekend.

This will be Millwall's first home game since 4th January against Swansea, a match they won 2-1. Their home form, as mentioned above, is strong, and their performances have been much stronger at The Den. They are 23rd in the league for total accurate passes, but 8th for accurate long passes, which illustrates their style of play neatly.

Charlton are also a direct team, which is going to make this an interesting clash to observe. Indeed, the Addicks are the only team with fewer accurate passes than Millwall, and they are 9th for accurate long passes, again, next door to Millwall.

Charlton come off the back of three consecutive home matches, a plucky defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup, a narrow win against nine-man Sheffield United, and a deserved defeat to Derby. Nathan Jones understands what is needed to survive in this league, though, and he knows that there needs to be improvement, especially defensively.

📔 Millwall v Charlton Formation & Team News

Millwall play a variant of 4-4-2 with one of the strikers likely to drop into midfield when required. Most recently, this has been Macauley Langstaff, who has had something of a resurgence in his Millwall career, but the return to fitness of Josh Coburn could threaten that position.

Strength is returning to the squad in other areas, too. Central midfield has been badly hit. Billy Mitchell and Camiel Neghli have held the fort in recent matches, but Casper De Norre, Luke Cundle, and Derek Mazou-Sacko are all in and around the squad as well.

Charlton are playing a 3-5-2 formation and will be looking to go direct to Lyndon Dykes and Miles Leaburn, with support from Sonny Carey breaking from midfield.

Harvey Knibbs suffered a bad tackle against Sheffield United and is currently out injured. Amari'i Bell is a big miss at the moment, and Onel Hernandez is also likely to be out. Lloyd Jones went off injured in the last match, but he seems to be fine. Josh Edwards has also been announced as a long term absentees.
