Basel Over 0.5 Goals

Basel scored in the first leg meeting via the penalty spot with Xherdan Shaqiri finding the back of the net in the 14th minute. This wasn’t the only threat that Basel carried in the game, they had 11 shots with six of these efforts finding the target.

Basel scored 48 goals across their 19 away games in the Swiss Super League last season (2.52 per game) which is a scoring power that they’ll look to use to unsettle the Copenhagen backline.

Copenhagen conceded just 15 goals across their 16 home games in the Superligaen last season which is a very solid defensive record, but that is likely to unravel here seeing as the Swiss side have such a strong record when it comes to scoring on the road.

Jordan Larsson to Score Anytime

Larsson is currently Copenhagen’s top scorer this season with three goals domestically. This may not sound like much but we are in the very early stages of the Danish season, and Larsson also topped Copenhagen’s scoring ranks last season with eight goals so he’s already close to matching that total.

Larsson had four shots in the first leg which underlines his willingness to take aim at goal and this should be even clearer at home where Copenhagen tend to have more of a grip on games.

Basel conceded 28 goals across their 19 away games last season (1.47 per game) which is a record that should really encourage the home side and Larsson here to continue their strong scoring record this season.

🔵 Missed Opportunity For Copenhagen

Copenhagen have made a really strong start to their domestic season with four wins from their opening six matches and only one defeat in these opening run of games.

They’ve scored 13 goals across these fixtures, but have conceded seven which is a record that suggests that Copenhagen are a bit open at the back at the moment which is a price they seemingly have to pay to ensure that their attack stays potent.

Copenhagen won 10 of their 16 home games in the Superligaen last season. They only drew one of these games with the rest ending in defeat so we can ascertain that Copenhagen’s results at home tend to be pretty black and white with not many stalemates.

Copenhagen did score right at the death in the first leg after Basel had been reduced to 10 men but that goal was ultimately ruled out leaving both sides as they were heading into this second leg.

🔴 Basel See Plenty of Goals on The Road

Basel haven’t played since the first leg meeting between the sides which could be an advantage or a disadvantage ahead of his clash, but what it should do is give them a slight edge when it comes to match fitness and sharpness,

Basel have made an inconsistent start to the defence of their Swiss Super League title with two wins and two losses from their opening four games of the domestic season.

They have scored eight goals across these games so it’s not like they’re missing a goal threat, but their backline has shipped far too many goals at this early stage of the campaign.

Basel do have real quality in the side, Xherdan Shaqiri is the standout name in the squad but players like Ajeti and Traore can also cause Copenhagen problems.
