Millwall Double Chance

In one of my FA Cup underdog acca’s last season, I have fresh in my mind Millwall going to Elland Road and pulling off a victory when a similar price to what they are here, against Leeds. I think they will be able to cause Palace problems here, partly because I think they will be taking this more seriously than their Premier League opponents.

Millwall don’t have a league game until the following Monday night, while Palace play on Saturday, which I think will mean less rotation by Alex Neil. Millwall faced Palace at Selhurst Park last term and were beaten 3-1, but the Lions were reduced to 10 men less than 10 minutes into that clash, and helped Palace out with an own goal for good measure.

Millwall managed to get on the scoresheet on that occasion, even with 10 players. Taking them in double chance market here is my suggestion, available at an attractive price of 3.25.

Romain Esse to have 1+ Shots on Target

I think we may see Romain Esse start here for Palace against his old side, and he is priced at 1.44 for a shot on target, which I think is good value for a player trying to impress against his former employers.

Esse joined Palace in January after impressing in the Championship, where he averaged 1.3 shots per 90. With this being a derby game against his former club, he will want to play a big role, and a good performance could see him in Glasner's thoughts for Palace's Conference League opener next week.

  • These two rivals met in the FA Cup last season, with Palace winning 3-1 after Millwall received an early red card.

  • Millwall benefit from two extra days rest than Palace between this match and their following fixture, which could play a part in team selection.

  • Romain Esse could be in line to start against his ex-club, he's been starved of minutes so far this season but could have a say in the result - he averaged 1.3 shots per 90 during his time at Millwall.

🔴 Crystal Palace Difficult to Break Down

Crystal Palace’s defensive organisation under Oliver Glasner looks solid, with just one goal conceded in six competitive matches so far this season.

However, at Selhurst Park their home form remains patchy, struggling past Fredrikstad in the Conference League and drawing against Forest and Sunderland.

They need to find a spark in attack following the departure of Eze and the injury to Sarr, and may turn to former Millwall man Romain Esse to see what he can do.

🔵 Solid Start From Millwall

Millwall have made a solid start to the Championship campaign, registering seven points from five games. They have struggled at home, losing both league games without scoring a goal, but recording a victory in the cup over Coventry, which earned them this tie.

They are unbeaten away from home, winning against Norwich and Sheffield United in the league and Newport in the cup, and drawing most recently at Charlton. They usually play with a 4-4-2, but may go with an extra man in midfield for this game.

📊 Crystal Palace v Millwall H2H

These two sides have met in the FA Cup in both 2025 and 2022, with Palace winning both ties.

They have not faced off in the league since 2012/13, with both games ending in a draw. Millwall’s last win over Crystal Palace was in 2011.
