Fuelled by a passion for sport and a sharp instinct for uncovering patterns in data, beating the bookies became the perfect outlet for my competitive streak. Now I take pleasure in sharing my finds with ABC punters. I enjoy finding niche angles and betting value in a range of markets and leagues, my favourite being in Serie A.
PSV welcome Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in an early kick-off for Matchday 1 of this season's Champions League.

With both PSV and USG comfortably topping their respective leagues for goals scored, this match is definitely worth a watch. I’ve outlined a few nice angles to go along with it.
Union top the Belgian league with five wins and two draws. They boast the league’s top record in terms of goals, goals conceded, xG, and xGa.
PSV have already netted 17 times in five matches this season, but look leaky at the back.
This is the first-ever competitive meeting between the two clubs, although PSV did edge a 1-0 friendly in July.

🔴 PSV Continue to Deliver Chaos and Thrills in Equal Measure
PSV have recorded four wins from their five matches so far this season, losing the remaining fixture against Telstar, against the flow of the game.
In typical Peter Bosz fashion, all five of those games produced excitement of the highest order, with the run including a six, seven, and even an eight-goal thriller.
Having already netted 17 times, the firepower is evidently not an area of concern for PSV; however, there have definitely been some eyebrows raised at the nature of their defending this season.
At the time of writing, only six teams have conceded more xGa than PSV (7.1), and this is reflected by their increase in goals conceded per game, from 1.1 last season to 1.6 during the current campaign.
🟡 Well-Rounded USG Eyeing Continental Success
It’s been a very positive start to the season for Union Saint Gilloise, who have picked up five wins and two draws from their opening seven matches - a record which puts them top of the Belgian Pro League.
With 15 goals to their name, USG boast the division's best offensive record, and no other side comes close to matching the 16.8xG they’ve accumulated in the process.
Unlike PSV, however, Union have also been a dominant defensive force this season, conceding an average of just 0.43 goals and 0.53xGa per game. In their last outing, Les Unionistes restricted their opponents to just 0.09xG, with only a third of that coming from open play.
In previous seasons, USG have failed to translate their domestic promise into European success, but they have a different look about them this season, and you certainly wouldn’t want to rule them out.
📊 PSV v Union Saint-Gilloise H2H
PSV and Union Saint-Gillioise have yet to meet in a competitive showing; however, they did face off in a friendly as recently as July.
On that occasion, it was the Dutch outfit who ran out eventual 1-0 victors - a fair reflection of what was a tight contest, but one that may also underline PSV’s superiority.
Nonetheless, friendly results are rarely reliable guides, and this is no different. Although there’s no such thing as too much information, I wouldn’t read too much into this one.
