A top four clash between two of the most in-form teams in the division, with either side able to go top of the table with a win. Elfsborg are second, two points behind leaders Mjällby, while Hammarby are another point adrift their opponents.

Elfsborg’s red-hot goalscoring form has been impressive, netting an average of three goals per game in the last five, while only conceding 0.8 goals per game. They have scored 4 goals in each of their previous 3 matches.

I also fancy Elfsborg to get at least a point, and the double chance at 1.44 is too good not to take, especially with key Hammarby defender Pavle Vagic suspended.

Elfsborg have, after a somewhat subdued start to the campaign, gone from strength to strength. They have now won each of their last five, winning eight of their last nine in Allsvenskan. 

While they were expected to be competing for a top three spot, some thought they lacked the attacking firepower to really go for the title. Those notions have been quickly dispelled, Elfsborg now being the joint-highest scorers in the league with 25 in 11 games. Frederik Ihler, the Dane on loan from Molde, has had a breakthrough, scoring 7 goals in total from only 6 starts, with five of those in the previous three games.

 Being effective at utilising spaces on the counter, they have only averaged 43.5% possession while generating the highest xG in the league with 20.3. Their style of play is intensive and direct but purposeful, rarely just playing hopeful long balls.

Hammarby have, despite possessing one of the strongest squads in the division, been struggling to put together a run of results to really push for the title. They sit in 4th, 3 points off the top, but have not won two in a row for nine matches. Their last five games have seen them collect 8 points.

One of the main issues is the lack of a striker. Jusef Erabi, their only real number 9, has been struggling with injuries and fitness and only has two goals to date. In his place Abelrahman Boudah only has one goal in his recent starts, not enough to put games to bed. Luckily star captain Nahir Besara is as sharp as always, scoring 6 and providing 2 assists this year from midfield. 

Hammarby tend to control games, having the highest possession in Allsvenskan with 61.3%, as well as creating the 4th-highest xG per game with 1.52.
