USG have been a similarly dominant force in the Belgian Pro League up until this point, having recorded 11 wins, three draws, and just a single loss, leaving them four points clear at the summit.

They comfortably boast the league’s best offensive and defensive records, and the underlying figures suggest that an eight point lead at the top would better reflect the quality of their performances.

Newly-appointed coach, David Hubert, has made a bright start to life in Brussels, guiding his men to five wins and a draw across domestic competitions. He certainly has big boots to fill, taking over from Pocognoli, who led Saint-Gilloise to their first Belgian title in 90 years before announcing his departure in October.

Despite all that, USG have, thus far, failed to translate their domestic glory into continental success, and are yet to build on their opening 3-1 victory against PSV. Since then, heavy losses to Newcastle, Inter, and Atletico have cast a shadow over their otherwise impressive record.
