According to the bookies, there is a 22.2% chance that Lincoln City finish in the League One play-offs this season.

The Imps are sat seventh in the table, two points behind a very unconvincing Oxford United side in sixth who have not been as strong since Liam Manning left for Bristol City in November. While Lincoln’s goal difference is +23 compared to Oxford’s +10. It feels like there is a much greater chance that Lincoln finish in the top six than the 22.2% that the bookies are suggesting.

The Imps are unbeaten in 13 in the league, winning eight of their last ten and they have only conceded one goal in their last seven games. It is an absurd run that has seen their attacking contingent catch fire, with Joe Taylor, on loan from Luton Town, looking like a striker who will be playing in the Championship as a minimum next season.

Their last three games have been a 5-1 win at fifth-placed Barnsley, a 6-0 win at home to Cambridge United (20th) and a 5-0 win at home to Bristol Rovers (13th), and the opposition have finished the match with 11 players in all three of those games.

The bookies have begun to cotton onto Lincoln’s recently found sky-high performance levels, they went off shorter than 1.80 against the Gas last time out, but their outright price to finish in the top six remains massive. Whatever will be, will be, but getting on the Imps to finish in the play-offs at 4.50 is not a price to pass up, allowing you to cheer them on for the remaining seven games rather than taking them at much shorter prices in the match-by-match markets.

Stuttering Stevenage are even money, in comparison, to finish in the top six, and getting Lincoln onside is a great way to oppose the Boro and Oxford in the season’s final stretch.
