It has also been a tale of two halves of the season so far for Genoa, too. After failing to win any of their opening nine league matches, they were rock bottom of the league going into November with just three points. The Red and Blues then went on a five-game unbeaten run, during which they picked up three wins, lifting them out of the relegation zone. However, Genoa were brought back down to Earth by Inter Milan last time out, losing 2-1 on home turf. That means Genoa have lost against Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan already this season, unable to put up much of a fight against the top sides in the division. 

Atalanta are still classed amongst the elites, despite their struggles this season. La Dea have won five of their last six matches across all competitions, during which they have also kept three clean sheets. The only loss in that stretch was against Hellas Verona on their travels, which has been an area of weakness so far. 

Atalanta have won just one of their seven away games in the league this season, losing each of their last three consecutive outings on the road. They have picked up just six points from their away games so far.

Palladino has been dealt a massive blow as Ademola Lookman has joined up with Nigeria’s squad for AFCON. Djimsiti, who opened the scoring against Genoa last time out, was withdrawn against Cagliari with a hamstring injury so will miss out here, which should give an opportunity for Honest Ahanor to start at the back. Isak Hien was also absent last weekend due to illness, but should be available for selection here as some consolation. 

Genoa have no fresh injury concerns since their loss against Inter Milan last weekend, so are likely to go for an unchanged lineup. Vitinha should partner Lorenzo Colombo up front as Andrea Belotti continues his recovery from an ACL injury.  Leo Ostigard suffered a muscle injury against Udinese, and missed out against Inter Milan, but will hope to play a part here. If Ostigard is available, Sebastian Otoa is likely to be the one to sit out.
