With not much football on tv this weekend I thought I’d have a rummage through all the stats for this match and piece together a bet builder along with a cheat sheet for this game.
Equally, with Huddersfield surprising many people who had tipped them to be involved in another relegation battle this season. This game has become much more than just another game of the many shown on Sky but actually a very important fixture in potentially deciding who will take the last Playoff spot, currently occupied by the hosts of this game Huddersfield.
Especially, with Stoke looking strong at the start of the year an argument could also be made for them being involved in this promotion scrap but with a poor run of form leaving them 6 points adrift of 6th place this game is crucial for them.
The selections have come out at 6/1 and with the Bet Club having success last week with a very similar odds bet builder in the championship I’m feeling pretty good going into this one.
Huddersfield v Stoke Bet Builder Tips & Predictions
Huddersfield to win
For the first selection, I’ve cast my eyes over the match odds section of the bet builder and I can’t believe the odds on a Huddersfield win. This is because despite Stoke getting the better of the Town in their last meeting in September the form tables of these two sides resemble very different pictures.
Stoke have won only three of their last ten games in all competitions seeing them drop down to 11th in the Championship table with one of these wins in the FA cup 3rd round courtesy of League Two side Leyton Orient.
On the other hand, The Terriers are currently enjoying a streak of 9 unbeaten games in all competitions including a strong performance against promotion rivals Blackburn and victory over Premier League opposition in Burnley.
Huddersfield now occupies the last playoff spot in the division and with the opportunity to strengthen their position with West Brom’s loss midweek I think it’s unlikely Stoke will find form in this fixture and secure victory. As a result, Huddersfield to win at 2.45 seems like it has strong potential as an individual bet or in this case as a strong odds boost to our overall bet builder.
Danny Ward to score
Danny Ward is coming into this fixture in fine form, fresh off a performance in which he scored a hat-trick against Reading. Ward is not only Huddersfield’s top goalscorer this season having netted 10 in the campaign. But he has scored 4 more than any player that will be involved in this fixture on Friday, with the next closest being Jacob Brown who has scored 6.
Despite him struggling slightly in some of Huddersfield’s recent fixtures having picked up a slight knock against Forest, it was clear in his performance against Reading that Ward is The Terries best-attacking threat and they will hope that he continues his fine form to secure victory in this fixture.
Paddy Power has Ward priced as the favourite to score in this game and with his fine form it is clear to see why. However, despite Paddy favouring Ward to find the net over anyone else the odds of 3.1 are still very nice to add a boost to our overall bet builder odds. If you are personally looking for an individual bet involving Ward with slightly higher odds, then him score first at 5.5 is a market to investigate further. However, for my selection, I think I’ll keep our options slightly broader and tip him to score anytime at 3.1.
Over 2.5 goals
Huddersfield showed in their last game that not only are they a high scoring team but also, they have the propensity to concede as well. This is because the 7 goals scored at the Select Car leasing stadium on Saturday was not uncharacteristic of Terrier games as in their last 7 there’s been 23 goals at an average of 3.3 per game. Suggesting if Huddersfield are unable to sure up their defence and their attacking threats continue to perform over 2.5 goals is more than likely.
Stoke themselves are certainly no slouch in front of goal, successfully finding the net 7 times in their last 5 fixtures, only failing to score on one of those occasions. Equally, Stoke has also been involved in some high scoring games this season with 3 fixtures this year ending with 5 or more goals one as recently as the 22nd of January in which they lost 2-3 to league leaders Fulham.
Paddy Power has priced over 2.5 goals at 2.2 and this is the selection I would be most surprised about if it wasn’t successful, due to recent games for both of these sides being high scoring and the clear potential for both to score and concede.
