I intend to make it a regular feature on my blog where I cover the biggest game of the night in the Champions League and give you all the insight, betting tips and other information you need to know prior to the game. Last night we covered the PSG v Manchester City fixture and tonight I feel the Juventus v Chelsea game is the standout fixture. This article will offer a breakdown on all you should know surrounding both teams prior to the big game and finish on some bet builder tips that I like the look of this evening.
Juventus Preview & Predicted Line-up
- The return of legendary manager Massimiliano Allegri was supposed to bring immediate success back to Turin after a poor season last year under Andrea Pirlo. It hasn’t quite worked out that way just yet with Juve just 10th in Serie A after a poor start to the new season.
- Defensively is where the main issues seem to exist. The 10 goals they have conceded in their first six league games is more than in any season since the late 1980s. And they have conceded at least once in each of their past 20 league matches, something they had not done for more than 60 years.
- They look to have turned a corner somewhat in recent weeks and come into tonight on a four game unbeaten run including their opening Champions league victory against Malmo a fortnight ago.
- Juventus are without former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala through injury who both picked up muscle injuries in the weekend win over Sampdoria. Other than that Allegri should have a full strength squad from which to choose from.
Juventus Predicted Line-up v Chelsea: Perin; Danilo, Chiellini, Bonucci, Sandro; Cuadrado, Bentancur, Locatelli,Bernadeschi; Chiesa, Kean (4-4-2)
Chelsea Preview & Predicted Line-up
- Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the season at home to Manchester City on Saturday and the manner of the defeat may have been slightly concerning for Thomas Tuchel with his side thoroughly outplayed.
- They opened their Champions League defence with a slender 1-0 win over Russian Zenit a fortnight ago and will see the game tonight away at Juventus as their toughest task in a relatively easy Group H.
- Chelsea make the trip to Turin missing a quartet of important players through injury/illness. Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Reece James are all missing through injury while Ngolo Kante has covid-19.
- Tuchel actually has the third best win ratio of any manager in the Champions League (68%) behind only Pep Guardiola (71%) and Jupp Heynckes (73%) which shows once more what an impressive coach he is.
Chelsea Predicted Line-up v Juventus: Mendy; Christensen, Silva, Rudiger; Azpilcueta, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Ziyech, Lukaku, Havertz (4-3-3)
Juventus v Chelsea Bet Builder Tips
To boost the odds on your respective bets I have picked out a couple of my favourites from the game tonight as I did last night. Cancelo did the business for us by getting booked so let’s hope I can pick out another winner this evening.
Chelsea to Win v Juventus
I mentioned above how Juventus aren’t the team they once were. They lost Ronaldo in the summer and haven’t replaced him and go into tonight without the services of both Pablo Dybala and Alvaro Morata leaving them very short in attack. So much so that Everton reject Moise Kean is expected to lead the line for the hosts this evening.
The return of Allegri hasn’t had the desired impact just yet and they are very much a side who are looking to rebuild. His return was essentially an admission the club had wasted the two years since he left. The appointment of Pirlo was a disaster and they just generally look quite a way behind the rest of Europe’s elite at the moment which of course includes Chelsea. At 2.20 and with Juve short on confidence and missing two of their best attacking players I would fancy Chelsea to do the business this evening.

Juan Cuadrado to be Booked v Chelsea
As for a booking, well Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado really stood out to me at a generous price of 3.60 this evening. He will start on the right hand side and be responsible for both supporting attacks but also defending a considerable amount to support his backline against the dangerous left hand side of Chelsea which will contain a combination of Alonso/Chillwell/Ziyech/Havertz. He averages 2.04 tackles per 90 which puts him in the top 10% of wingers in elite European football which shows how much he likes to get stuck in. His 97 career cards to date can also support this claim and against a Chelsea side which are likely to boss both the ball and the game in general, he looks a prime candidate to pick up a yellow in this one.

Federico Chiesa to have 1+ Shots on Target v Chelsea
One man who is sure to cause Chelsea some problems is the main man for both club and country at the moment, Federico Chiesa. He is a phenomenal talent as he showed during this summer’s Euros and at 23 he looks to have a fantastic future ahead of him. In the absence of both Dybala and Morata, a lot of sources suggest he could start in the more advanced striker role alongside Kean and his pace and directness is sure to cause Chelsea some issues. He is averaging a very healthy 1.42 shots on target per 90 minutes played this season and I am sure will be afforded a chance or two to break on Chelsea which is where Chiesa in particular comes into his own. He is a very generous price of 1.83 tonight and given how advanced he is expected to play I think looks the best pick of the bunch from a Juventus point of view.
