The Allianz Stadium will take centre stage in Serie A on Friday evening as title-chasing Juventus welcome reigning Scudetto champions Napoli to Turin. There are plenty of interesting betting angles to explore here as this game looks like an absolute mouthwatering fixture, simply primed for creating bet builders. There is simply no better way to kickstart the weekend than taking in some top-class European football under the lights, so settle down and watch this entertaining spectacle unfold.
Without the distraction of European football to contend with this season, Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus are quietly going about their business and are beginning to mount a serious title challenge. The hosts sit second in the table, just two points behind pace-setters Inter Milan. A win here would see them reach the summit, if only for 24 hours with the leaders playing on Saturday evening. That should be enough motivation for Juventus to extend their unbeaten run to ten games here.
Former manager Walter Mazzarri returned to Naples during the international break following the departure of Rudi Garcia, and the Italian has endured a mix of results. An encouraging 2-1 win on the road against a dangerous Atalanta side was followed by consecutive losses to Real Madrid in the Champions League and a disappointing defeat at the hands of Inter Milan last weekend, and it’s unlikely that Napoli will retain their crown this season as they are already eleven points adrift.

⚽ Match stats: Old Lady = Title contenders
Juventus enter this game full of confidence as the home side are currently on a nine game unbeaten run, a stretch that includes seven victories and credible draws against Atalanta on the road and title rivals Inter Milan at this stadium last time out. Significantly, on their own patch, Allegri’s side have lost just two games here since the start of February, against AC Milan and the visitors here.
Napoli meanwhile look a shadow of the team that dominated the league last season and despite completing the double over Juventus last season, this is a completely different proposition this time around. There will be a sense of revenge in this one as the hosts were humiliated 5-1 in Naples before losing the home game 1-0 back in April, albeit with a 93rd minute last gasp goal.
Juventus have won ten of the previous fourteen head to head fixtures at this venue, and that feels significant, especially with the trajectory that both of these sides are currently on. The Old Lady are strongly fancied to pick up a positive result in this one and can be taken on the Double Chance market, and if wanting to boost the odds of the bet builder, they could easily run out winners here.
Predictions:
🏆 Juventus double chance @ 1.33
🏆 Juventus to win @ 2.40
🎯 Shooting stats: Trust in Juventus front pair
Juventus have struggled with injuries at times this season in forward areas, but the preferred partnership of Dušan Vlahović and Federico Chiesa have now started the last two games together and are expected to line up against Napoli here. The partnership has thus far produced nine goals in all competitions this season and there is every reason to suggest they get opportunities in this one.
Vlahovic missed a penalty against Monza last weekend but has otherwise been in good form. He’s currently averaging 3.60 shots per 90 minutes with 1.36 of these hitting the target. Chiesa has similar statistics as he’s had ten shots on target this campaign at an average of nearly one per game. Those two should get plenty of service and they are fancied to influence the game for the hosts.
Since Mazzarri has returned to the dugout, Napoli appear to be more open at the back, giving up an average of six shots on their goal per game, compared to a season average of just 3.42. What’s more this fixture produced four attempts on target for Juventus last term, but there has been a dramatic turnaround for both sides since their last meeting and Allegri’s side are certainly on the up.
Predictions:
🎯 Dušan Vlahović to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.36
🎯 Federico Chiesa to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.57
🚩 Corner stats: Napoli the King of the Corners
Napoli are simply the league’s most prolific side when it comes to winning corner kicks. The visitors have already won a mammoth 93 this season which is an impressive average of 6.64 per game. When diving into the statistics, it’s easy to see why this is the case, not least the possession metric. Mazzarri’s side lead Serie A with an average of 58.4%, and with that comes more opportunities.
A large portion of these corners are won from the overlapping runs from the full backs areas, especially on the right side where Giovanni Di Lorenzo enjoys getting forward in support of Matteo Politano, who himself likes to hit the byline resulting in a number of corners. On the opposite flank, it’s Kvaratskhelia’s pace and trickery that often wins his side a number of set plays in the final third.
Despite playing away from home, Napoli will get forward at every opportunity and playing against a back three may well benefit the corner count. If the wing backs of Juventus are caught high up the field it will be left to the centre halves to get out and close down Napoli’s forwards which could see the corners rack up. The visitors won six in this fixture last season and they should get a few here.
Predictions:
🚩 Over 3.5 Napoli corners @ 1.36
🚩 Over 4.5 Napoli corners @ 1.80
🛑 Fouls stats: Kvaratskhelia a problem for Gatti
One area of the pitch where there looks to be a clear mismatch is the battle between Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Federico Gatti. The Georgian is arguably Napoli’s most valuable asset from an offensive perspective and is likely to cause a number of problems for the Juventus defender in this game, especially on the counter attack where Napoli will likely get most joy playing away.
The winger is one of the most fouled players in Serie A this campaign, drawing a total of 32 fouls in the league with only Michael Folorunsho of Verona winning more. That’s an average of 2.46 free kicks won per appearance, something which will be of concern for the Juventus back line, especially in their preferred 3-5-2 system, as they could get caught on the break during the match.
Gatti has struggled at times this season, especially against wide players that possess plenty of pace. A prime example was when he came up against Rafael Leao of AC Milan, he committed a total of five fouls and was booked in that one, and he’s taken to get embroiled with Kvaratskhelia. The Italian has committed sixteen fouls in twelve appearances and has collected four yellow cards.
Predictions:
🛑 Federico Gatti to commit 1+ fouls @ 1.33
🛑 Federico Gatti to commit 2+ fouls @ 2.63
🟨 Federico Gatti to be shown a card @ 2.40
