Fuelled by a passion for sport and a sharp instinct for uncovering patterns in data, beating the bookies became the perfect outlet for my competitive streak. Now I take pleasure in sharing my finds with ABC punters. I enjoy finding niche angles and betting value in a range of markets and leagues, my favourite being in Serie A.
On Sunday, Juve and Parma will renew their rivalry to kick off the new season, and early signs are that it should be a compelling affair. I’ve picked out a couple of bets that I like for the match.

⚫ Signs of Life at Juve After Club World Cup Blow
Some may point to Juventus’ Club World Cup showing as an early indication of their prospects this season, though in truth it felt more like a continuation of last term than the start of a new campaign.
A narrow loss to Real Madrid, followed by a humbling 5-1 defeat to Man City, made for a disappointing tournament.
Since then, things have looked much brighter, with the Bianconeri picking up successive 2-1 victories over Dortmund and Atalanta, the latter coming just last Saturday, but it remains to be seen if this translates into competitive glory.
Jonathan David capped his pre-season off with a stunning overhead kick to seal the win against their Serie A rivals, ahead of his potential Serie A debut on Sunday.
🟡 Cuesta’s Reign Begins With Promise
Unlike Juventus, Parma have already kicked off their competitive campaign, easing past Pescara 2-0 in the Coppa Italia.
The night belonged to Mateo Pellegrino, who stole the show with a brace while also completing the most dribbles and winning the most duels.
His performance capped off an excellent all-round team display, as Parma created 2.22xG and conceded no more than 0.36, notably preventing Pescara from mustering a single shot on target.
For new boss Carlos Cuesta, those defensive numbers will be especially pleasing. At just 30 years old, the former Arsenal assistant has become the youngest manager in Europe’s top five leagues, though his first real test comes on Sunday.
📊 Juventus v Parma H2H
Juventus and Parma have already served up plenty of drama since the Gialloblu’s return to Serie A. Parma held their own in Turin back in October, sharing the points in a 2-2 draw despite being under the cosh for much of the game.
More recently, the reverse fixture in April went Parma’s way, as they nicked a 1-0 win in a pretty dull affair during which the teams produced a combined 1.33xG.
This represents a significant uplift in Parma’s record against Juventus, given that they had failed to win any of the six previous clashes (L5, D1).
