James has established himself as a key player for a Leeds United this season, his performances keeping a talent like Willy Gnonto glued to the bench.

He averages 3.6 shots per 90, with 1.3 being on target. The Wales international has tested the goalkeeper in 12 of his last 13 appearances, which is an astounding record of shooting accuracy.

Only two sides goalkeepers have to make more saves per match than Pompey keeper Nicolas Schmid, so this looks like a good spot for this to land.

Pompey right back Swanson has been a consistent performer this season.

He has also consistently committed fouls when starting games. Of his 19 league starts, he has heard the referees whistle in response to a challenge 15 times. His fouls per 90 average is 1.7.

There is always a hostile atmosphere at Fratton Park, but the visit of the league leaders is sure to pique supporters interest even more than usual.

The referee in charge is the Premier League’s Robert Jones, who has awarded an average of 32.5 fouls across the small sample size of two Championship matches that he has officiated this season, which is well above league average.

Portsmouth have taken the 2nd most corners at home in the Championship this season, with only Sunday’s opponents Leeds having taken more.

Their average per home game is 7.7, so this tally should be well within reach, especially given they have taken three or more corners in every home league game so far this season.

The difficulty comes when looking at the corners Leeds concede away from home, which on average stands at 3.6 per league game. They have restricted their opponents to two or fewer corners in 47% of their games, so whilst you can definitely see why the predicted rally for Pompey is so low, the percentages are still in our favour here.

We’ve discuss the number of corners they conceded on the road, now let us look at the corners Daniel Farke’s men are awarded.

They average exactly six per game, so this prediction is one tick below their usual average. Their total of 102 is 2nd only to Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds have only taken four or fewer corners 5 times this season, but all have come away from home. Still, this bet has won in 71% of their away games.

Portsmouth conceded an average of 4.2 per game at Fratton Park, so we need an above-average display from Leeds, but they are an above-average team so there should be no issues. They have still only limited their opponents to four or fewer corners five times out of 17 at Fratton Park.

Leeds are the best side in the league, both based on the league table and the underlying numbers. However, there has been a slight chink in their armour away from home.

Of their 17 away games in the Championship, they have failed to win nine times, which is over 50% of the time.

They’re up against a Pompey side who are in incredible form at Fratton Park, winning eight of their last 11 and only losing once. Despite being 17th, they’ve only picked up two less points at home than Leeds have away, from the same amount of games.

Five of Pompey’s last six home games would have covered this bet, with the Fratton Park faithful unlikely to allow their charges to give Leeds an easy ride.

As per bet builder one, we fancy Swanson to be in for a tricky afternoon at right back.

He’ll be up against Junior Firpo and Manor Solomon down the Leeds left, as well as Dan James drifting over to that side as and when he fancies it, as he did to good effect last weekend.

Both Firpo and Solomon win over 1.5 fouls per 90, whilst Swanson has committed over two fouls in ten of his 19 league starts, with six of those ten occasions occurring at Fratton Park.

There is some recency bias in this pick, with Firpo having scored in his last two games, but at least we know his confidence is high when chancing his arm in this game.

Firpo has taken eight shots in six games since his return to the starting line up following an injury which kept him out in December and January. three of those shots have been on target.

He did manage two shots, with one on target against Portsmouth in the reverse fixture, albeit that game was all the way back on the opening day of the Championship season.
