Both sides have fallen on harder times in the short term, Sheffield United are slowly recovering after a dreadful start to the campaign, while Leicester have massively underperformed expectations and currently find themselves in mid table. 📈 Sheffield United v Leicester Form & Stats

After a dreadful start to the campaign which saw Sheffield United languishing in the relegation zone and Ruben Selles lose his job, Sheffield United went back to their tried and tested formula of Chris Wilder. Despite some mixed results over his first couple of months, things are heading in the right direction.

Sheffield United currently sit in 17th place, but have managed a credible 19 points from their last 10 games, winning six, drawing one, and losing two. Their home form is beginning to look far better relative to the start of the campaign; they’ve now gone unbeaten in their last five, offering some very dominant performances.

It’s been a disappointing start to the campaign for newly-relegated Leicester, they simply haven’t been able to hit the ground running, and continue to be plagued by inconsistency. Leicester currently sit 12th in the league, a long way from promotion aspirations at the start of the season. Their inconsistency is exemplified by their results over the last eight games, winning three, losing four, and drawing one.

After a fantastic win against Ipswich, Leicester lost their next two matches, but did manage to beat Derby in midweek. Game by game, it’s very difficult to know which Leicester team will show up; there looks to be a genuine level of underperformance given the personnel in the squad.

📔 Sheffield United v Leicester Formation & Team News

Chris Wilder has shown the ability to be flexible, often switching between a four and three at the back. However, they have settled on four at the back in recent matches.

Wilder likes to create overloads in wide areas, packing out those areas of the pitch to overwhelm the opposition and put deliveries into the box. They generally play an aggressive brand of attacking football with an emphasis on intensity and getting on the front foot.

Sheffield United currently have Tom Davies, Ben Mee, and Sydie Peck out injured, while Ben Godfrey is absent for personal reasons.

Marti Cufuentes has generally lined up with a 4-2-3-1 formation during his Leicester tenure; there’s an emphasis on possession-based and patient football. His style has drawn criticism from supporters for lacking penetration and risk-taking. Leicester prefer to utilise the counterattack with their pace and power on the wings; this is seen as their best attacking outlet when facing teams who are susceptible to transitional phases.

Leicester have a lengthy injury list with Victor Kristiansen, Boubakary Soumare, and Harry Souttar all missing. There are injury question marks over Hamza Choudhury, Aaron Ramsey, Jannick Vestergaard, and Harry Winks. Patson Daka is on AFCON duty with Zambia.
