It would be fair to say that these two clubs are two of the biggest in the Championship and both would’ve had aspirations of promotion before the season began. It hasn’t really worked out for either of them, but there is still time for both to go on a big run and achieve those goals. Sheffield United look set to embark on a run but Leicester remain inconsistent.

There's a wide range of Football Tips on the site for this weekend's matches. Our Leicester v Sheffield United Betting Stats are worth a look ahead of kick-off.

📈 Leicester v Sheffield United Form & Stats

Sheffield United are showing improvement at both ends of the pitch. They have gone three matches without conceding a goal, and scored six without reply in their last two. There is clearly a marked improvement, not only in results, where United have emerged out of the bottom three and have now won five matches in the league this season, but also in performance metrics.

Blades are one of the form teams in terms of xG ratio over the last 10 matches. They are running at 58.1% xG ratio, which means that their xG for is better than their xG against, and this ranks them 4th in the league over the last 10 matches.

Leicester rank 10th in that same metric over the same period of time, but come into this match off the back of a 3-0 loss to Southampton. They were already two goals down when debutant Olabade Aluko saw red for two obvious yellow card offences, so defeat was on the cards already, but Leicester barely threatened on the night. Form at the King Power Stadium has been okay, only losing once this season, but they have had four draws from their eight league matches there too.

Improvement is definitely required as well though, not withstanding their difficulties at Southampton. Leicester’s performance data isn’t very strong at all, they are lower mid table for expected goals for, big chances created, and touches in the opponent's penalty area. This is also the case for expected goals against; indeed, Sheffield United rank above Leicester in every metric, attacking and defensive.

📔 Leicester v Sheffield United Formation & Team News

Chris Wilder has switched from a back three to a 4-2-2-2 formation in recent weeks and it seems to be paying dividends. Width is provided from the left back on the left, and shared by the right-sided attacking midfielder and right back on the right, depending on the balance of the game at the time. The base in front of the defence is really important, which is why Jairo Riedewald was brought into the squad alongside Sydie Peck.

There’s no new injury or suspension issues for Sheffield United, but they could rotate in a few positions. Gustavo Hamer is close to a start, and Tyrese Campbell may also be expecting to be rotated back into the attack.

Leicester are continuing to use a 4-2-3-1 system with Jordan James often being pushed forward as the #10 between stars Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi. There continue to be problems in defence, though, with individual mistakes littering Leicester’s campaign so far, Olabade Aluko’s red card being the latest of those on Tuesday night.

That dismissal makes Aluko unavailable for this match, so a change will be made at left back, with right-footed Ricardo Pereira likely to deputise.
