This weekend sees what will surely be the biggest game of the Bundesliga season, with title holders Bayern visiting the BayArena to face current leaders Leverkusen. Only two points separate the two sides.
Xabi Alonso is working wonders at Leverkusen. The Spaniard’s side are unbeaten across all competitions this season, winning sixteen of their twenty Bundesliga fixtures. The hosts come into this game having beaten a strong Stuttgart side in the quarterfinals of the DFB Pokal.
Bayern have also won sixteen of their twenty league matches this season. The visitors have however lost twice, losing 5-1 against Frankfurt and 1-0 against Bremen. Despite the results, Thomas Tuchel’s side dominated possession and had a greater expected goals tally than their opponents in both defeats.
The pair have already faced each other this season, with Leverkusen scoring late to earn a draw at the Allianz Arena.
These Leverkusen vs Bayern stats will provide an insight into what to expect from this meeting. If you plan to place a bet builder on this game, this is the place to find some key tips.

⚽ Match stats: Expect goals to fly in
There has been an abundance of goals across Leverkusen’s home league games this season, with an average of 3.5 goals scored per game. Alonso’s side have been excellent going forward, scoring an average of 2.9 goals per game at the BayArena. The hosts possess plenty of reliable goal sources with five players having amassed ten or more goal contributions thus far.
Bayern have the best attacking record in the Bundesliga, having scored an average of 2.95 goals per game at this stage. The visitors have impressed going forward in away games, scoring an average of 2.44 goals per away fixture; however, they have at times let things slip at the back, conceding an average of 1.33 goals per game on away territory.
A tally of three goals has been matched or exceeded in seven of Leverkusen’s nine home games and in eight of Bayern’s nine away matches, and four goals were scored when the two sides met in September. I expect the net to ripple at least three times here.
Predictions:
⚽ Over 2.5 goals @ 1.45
🎯 Shooting stats: Wirtz and Sane to test the keepers
Leverkusen have been threatening at home this season, registering an average of 8.33 shots on target per home game.
Florian Wirtz has contributed greatly to this, registering an average of 1.56 shots on target per home match. Wirtz has found the target in all but one of his nine starts at the BayArena.
As expected, Bayern have looked dangerous going forward on away soil, registering an average of 6.33 shots on target per away match.
Leroy Sane has been influential for the visitors going forward. The German winger has made an attempt on target in seven of his nine away appearances this season, registering an average of 1.22 shots on target per away game.
The bookies are offering a price of 1.73 for Wirtz to find the target and 1.50 for Sane to do the same.
Predictions:
⚽ Florian Wirtz to have 1+ shot on target @ 1.73
⚽ Leroy Sane to have 1+ shot on target @ 1.50
🚩 Corner stats: Plenty of corners to be taken
Leverkusen have taken an average of 8.44 corners per home game this season, taking a minimum of seven corners in seven of their nine games at the BayArena.
No side has taken more corners than Bayern this season, with the visitors taking an average of 7.7 corners per game. When playing away from home, Tuchel’s side have earned an average of 7.33 corners.
Eleven corners were taken when the sides met in September, and the bookies are offering a generous price of 1.57 for a lower tally of nine being matched or exceeded here.
Predictions:
⚽ Over 8.5 total corners @ 1.57
🛑 Fouls stats: Musiala and Sane to commit fouls
Bayern have committed an average of 10.22 fouls per away match this season, with two key contributors being Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane.
Musiala is not afraid of a tackle and has committed his fair share of fouls this season. The exciting talent has committed a foul in all of his last six starts, committing a minimum of two fouls in four of these matches.
Sane has committed an average of 1 foul per game this season and has committed a foul in all but one of his last six starts.
The bookies are offering a price of 1.30 for Sane to commit at least one and 1.62 for Musiala to commit two or more fouls in this clash.
Predictions:
⚽ Leroy Sane to commit 1+ fouls @ 1.30
⚽ Jamal Musiala to commit 2+ fouls @ 1.62
