Oliver Glasner has noted, on quite a few occasions, that his squad isn’t as deep as he would like it to be - especially in the final third. Palace can occasionally find converting chances from open play difficult with seven of their 20 goals in the Premier League this season coming from set pieces (35%).

A similar share of Palace’s goals were from set pieces last season (29%), indicating that corners and other set pieces are avenues that Palace have to go down to compete in the Premier League. The Eagles are averaging 3.63 corners per game on the road in the Premier League this term, and take on a Leeds side that are conceding 3.13 corners per game at Elland Road.

Palace have racked up 3+ corners in nine of their last 10 matches in the Premier League this term, only failing to do so against Manchester City last time out. Seven of these games have seen Palace register more than three corners, suggesting that Glasner’s side should be able to cover this amount comfortably, and possibly even test higher lines.

Lucas Perri has been forced into making 26 saves across his 11 Premier League appearances this term (2.36 per 90). He’s had to make 2+ saves in three of his last five Premier League appearances, including four saves against Liverpool in Leeds’ most recent home game.

Palace have drawn 47 saves from the opposition keeper across their 16 matches in the Premier League this season (2.93 per game) with the Eagles forcing 2+ saves in 13 of their 16 matches this term. Oliver Glasner’s side have forced the opposition keeper into 2+ saves in each of their last seven Premier League matches.

Only Arsenal, Aston Villa and West Ham have managed to stop Palace forcing 2+ saves from their keeper in the Premier League this term - offering real promise when backing the Eagles to force at least two stops from Lucas Perri here.

Calvert Lewin has been one of Leeds’ most effective signings this season with five goals across his 10 starts in the Premier League - including netting in each of his last four games.

Calvert Lewin always had the quality to be a decent Premier League striker, but has been held back by injuries which made him a bit of a risk to go for in the summer. Leeds did mitigate that risk by signing Nmecha and Okafor to add to their forward options, but Calvert Lewin is by far the most experienced of the trio in the Premier League.

Calvert Lewin has had 30 shots across his 14 appearances in the Premier League this term (2.86 per 90) with 13 of these attempts finding the target (1.24 per 90). He’s had a shot on target in each of Leeds’ last two home matches with those games being against Liverpool and Chelsea.

Daniel Farke has landed on a 3-5-2 system which has been effective for Leeds in recent weeks, particularly at home with the newly promoted side avoiding defeat to Liverpool and Chelsea across their last two matches at Elland Road.

Calvert Lewin and Okafor are likely to offer a real physical battle to Palace’s back three, with Guehi having a strong record when it comes to winning fouls as the Palace defender likes to step into midfield from the back three to give the Eagles an extra body in the middle of the park.

Guehi’s role could be particularly crucial here with Leeds expected to lineup with three players in the middle of the park. 

Guehi has won 15 fouls across his 15 appearances in the Premier League this term (1.00 per 90) and should contest multiple duels against Calvert Lewin (1.62 fouls committed per 90) and Okafor (1.15 fouls committed per 90) who are expected to be the front two for Leeds here.

Mateta only featured for 14 minutes in Palace’s draw with KuPS in the Conference League during the week, with the Eagles failing to win that game meaning that they will have to battle through a playoff to reach the last 16 of the Conference League.

Mateta’s goals have dried up a bit recently but he’s still easily Palace’s biggest threat from open play having netted seven goals across his 16 Premier League appearances - four more than Palace’s next top scorer (Munoz, 3).

Mateta should probably have a few more goals to his name with a personal xG of 10.1. He’s also shooting more than he ever has with an average of 3.03 shots per 90, compared to his average of 2.37 shots per 90 in the Premier League last term. 

Mateta’s shot volume and obvious role as Palace’s main goal threat makes him a good player to back for a goal in this clash. Palace have scored more goals on the road than they have done at home this season (11-9) and this trend could continue with Leeds conceding 11 goals across their eight games at Elland Road this term.

Yeremy Pino is still finding his feet in the Premier League with two goal contributions across his 14 starts in the division so far, but his aggression is what really stands out to me.

Palace’s front three in their 3-4-3 system have a very important role as there are only two midfielders behind them that need protection, and are susceptible to being outnumbered. This means that Palace’s front three are forced to form a block, limiting space in central areas and forcing the opposition wide.

Pino has been the most active Palace forward in this role when it comes to committing fouls with 19 across his 14 Premier League starts (1.82 per 90), with this record earning him three yellow cards. Only Daniel Munoz (4) has picked up more cards for Palace in the Premier League this season than Pino with Hughes and Lerma also on three cards.

I’m a massive fan of Anton Stach and think he is perfectly suited to the Premier League with his physical profile. That’s the first thing that catches your eye when watching Stach, but upon closer inspection we learn that he is actually very technically skilled.

Stach has provided four goal contributions across his 14 Premier League appearances for Leeds this season, with only Calvert Lewin (5) having more goal contributions for Daniel Farke’s side in the Premier League this season. 

Stach has had 26 shots across these games (2.14 per 90) with six attempts finding the target (0.49 per 90). An angle to keep an eye on here is Stach on Leeds’ shooting range free kicks. He scored a lovely free kick against Wolves earlier in the season, and has capacity to shoot from distance with 50% of his total efforts coming from outside of the box.
