There have been a limited number of meetings between these two clubs; however, in the last three, Chelsea have come out on top. Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 victory when the sides met at Stamford Bridge; however, it will likely be far from straightforward for Pochettino’s men when they travel to Kenilworth Road.

Luton have looked much better when playing at home this season and have found decent form in recent weeks. The hosts have lost only two of their last five games at Kenilworth Road, both of which have come against Arsenal and Man City. Luton have failed to score in only one of their nine home matches this season, and they have conceded in all but one.

Chelsea have struggled on the road this season and have failed to win or draw any of their last four away games. Pochettino’s men have only kept two clean sheets when playing away from Stamford Bridge. The visitors have demonstrated their attacking capabilities at times, scoring in seven of their nine away matches.

Cole Palmer has arguably been Chelsea’s best player this season, amassing nine goal contributions thus far. Palmer missed the game against Palace due to suspension and will therefore be well rested ahead of this game.

Palmer averages 2.8 shots on goal per 90 in the league, with an average of 1.2 hitting the target. The Englishman has registered six shots on target in his last five starts. An added bonus is that the ex-Man City man is Chelsea’s main penalty taker, adding to his chances of finding the target.

Luton have only amassed 34 yellows this season, averaging less than two yellow cards per game. Only four teams have been booked less times than the hosts. Marvelous Nakamba is the only Luton player to have received five yellow cards.

Only Sheffield United have received more yellow cards than Chelsea this season. Pochettino’s side are clearly lacking discipline, having amassed an average of three yellow cards per game this season. Seven Chelsea players have been booked four or more times this season, with Nicolas Jackson picking up eight yellows.

Chelsea have had more bookings than their opponents in six of their last eight away matches; while Luton have kept things relatively clean at Kenilworth Road.

Chelsea’s fouls stats easily explain their yellow card record. Pochettino’s side have committed an average of 12.2 fouls per game this season. The likes of Conor Gallagher and Moises Caicedo are always among feisty battles, averaging around two fouls per game each.
