Man City v Al-Hilal
Kick Off: Tuesday 1st July at 02:00
Competition: FIFA Club World Cup
Manchester City have looked the most complete side at the Club World Cup so far with three wins from their three games in the competition against Wydad Casablanca, Al Ain and Juventus. Pep Guardiola is bedding in his new signings and welcoming players like Rodri back into the squad, putting Manchester City in an excellent position coming into the knockout stages.
Simone Inzaghi’s tenure in charge of Al Hilal kicked off with two draws and a win during the group stages, with their performance against Real Madrid in the opening game showing that they can offer some threat against the elite European sides.

⭐ Man City v Al-Hilal Best Bets
Milenkovic Savic is a key player for Al Hilal and his shot record at the tournament and across the 24/25 Saudi Pro League season suggests that he will have a decent chance of getting a few shots away here.
Milenkovic Savic has had seven shots across his three games at the Club World Cup so far (2.33 per 90). He plays in a role just in behind the striker who is usually Mitrovic but as the forward is still sidelined, we can expect Milenkovic Savic to replace the physical presence that he offers Al Hilal in the box.
Milenkovic Savic had 80 shots across his 31 appearances during the 24/25 Saudi Pro League season (2.64 per 90) which further shows the threat he can offer in the final third, particularly in arriving late in the box and also taking aim from distance - 30 of these 80 attempts came from outside of the area (37.5%).
Milkenkovic Savic had two shots, both from outside of the area, in Al Hilal’s 1-1 draw with Xabi Alonso’s side in the first game of the group stages which shows that he can still live up to his shot average against the more elite sides in the tournament.

🔍 Man City v Al-Hilal Players to Watch
🔵 Phil Foden
Phil Foden is looking to improve on his subpar performances during the 24/25 season and has looked bright across the opening three games of Manchester City’s Club World Cup campaign. Foden has scored two goals and provided an assist at the Club World Cup so far, showing that he still has the ability to start every week for this City side.
Foden may be further motivated by the signing of Rayan Cherki, a signing which adds competition for his spot in the side. Foden registered 15 goal contributions across his 45 appearances during the 24/25 season which is certainly a level below the quality he can produce as the 39 goal contributions he registered in the 23/24 season would suggest.
🔵 Rodri
Pep Guardiola has managed Rodri’s minutes at the Club World Cup so far but the holding midfielder should be given the nod to start here after playing 66 minutes against Juventus in the final group game.
Rodri has committed two fouls across his 125 minutes of football at the Club World Cup so far (1.44 per 90). His role in the City side hasn’t really changed, City are still a little vulnerable to the transition which is where Al Hilal will get most of their chances, so Rodri’s instruction will be to stop these fast breaks at source.

💻 Man City v Al-Hilal Form and Tactics
Manchester City have been the most impressive side at the Club World Cup so far and are the only team to have won all three of their group games. The most notable victory of these three, after expected wins against Al Ain and Wydad Casablanca, was a 5-2 demolition of Juventus which showed that Pep Guardiola is not too far away from having his free flowing side back.
Manchester City’s new signings featured regularly in the group stages, the most notable performances came from Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders. Both offer just that extra bit of quality in their passing and movement which allows City to manipulate the ball faster, especially in combinations in the wide areas with Savinho and Doku also having bright spells in the group stages.
Al Hilal will be pleased with their performances at the Club World Cup so far but know this will be an uphill battle against a Manchester City side that look in the mood. Simone Inzaghi has rapidly implemented a defensive structure which saw Al Hilal draw two games in the group stages against Salzburg and Real Madrid before coming out on top against Pachuca.
Al Hilal are likely to be on the back foot for the majority of this encounter with City proving around the edge of their box to work opportunities. The quality and depth that City have suggests that it will only be a matter of time before they can break the Al Hilal resolve meaning it will be about how effective the Saudi Pro League side can be when they get opportunities on the counter attack.
