Matheus Cunha to Score or Assist

Manchester United have already played three pre-season games with their pre-season tour in Asia being followed up by a 0-0 draw against Leeds. Matheus Cunha made his Manchester United debut against Leeds and looked like a player that can take Manchester United to where they feel they can be.

Cunha registered 23 goal contributions across his 36 appearances for Wolves last season and is a player who thrives off being given a maverick role in a side. He should improve with every game under Ruben Amorim, especially when he is partnered with Bryan Mbuemo, as United begin to construct a competent attack.

Bruno Fernandes to Commit 1+ Fouls

Fernandes committed 32 fouls across his 36 Premier League appearances during the 24/25 campaign (0.95 per 90) and committed a foul in West Ham’s 2-1 win over Manchester United at the London Stadium. We could see Fernandes in a deeper role more regularly for United now that the Red Devils have bolstered their frontline with Mbuemo and Cunha, which should see Fernandes’ foul rate increase in the coming season.

Both Teams to Score

BTTS landed in one of the two meetings between the sides last season. These pre-season competitions tend to be quite open with chances at both ends, given that younger players are given a chance, and there is also a trend to line up with two completely different starting XIs in each half. This points to quite an open game, which should have quite a few goals. The lack of familiarity does not lend itself to wateright defensive displays.

West Ham will be hoping to add to the two wins they registered over Manchester United during the 24/25 season as they line up against each other as part of the PL Summer Series, competing alongside Bournemouth and Everton.

🔴 Squad Concerns Linger for United Ahead of New Season

Manchester United have registered just one win from their three pre-season games so far but Ruben Amorim and the club have much bigger problems than their pre-season record. Manchester United still need players to be able to compete in the upper reaches of the Premier League next season, especially when considering the speed at which their rivals are pulling away from them in terms of squad quality and depth.

Manchester United’s frontline looks a lot stronger now than last season, but question marks still remain over the midfield, backline and goalkeeper - an injury to Andre Onana has further exacerbated this issue, with United linked with the likes of Emi Martinez, which certainly would be an upgrade. Amorim also remains insistent on using his 3-4-3 system; the structure is a lot cleaner on the right-hand side with the signing of Bryan Mbuemo, but the left-hand side is still an area of concern if Patrick Dorgu were to pick up an injury.

🟣 West Ham Enter New Era Under Potter with Uncertainty

West Ham are a massive unknown coming into the 25/26 season under the tutelage of Graham Potter. The Hammers ended the 24/25 campaign really poorly, but this wasn’t really a fair set of circumstances by which to judge Potter, seeing as he was left with the scraps of Julen Lopetegui’s failed stint. This pre-season tournament will give us more insight into West Ham, but at the moment, it's hard to see how they improve on their position from last season.

West Ham have made some moves in the transfer window, with their most notable acquisition being Kyle Walker-Peters, who will suit Potter’s preference to play with wing-backs.

📊 Man United v West Ham H2H

West Ham won both league meetings between the sides during the 24/25 season, underlining just how poor United were. The Hammers finished one point and one place above Amorim's men in 14th.
