Helsingborg v Djurgarden (Allsvenskan)
🏟
Monday 11th July – 6:00PM KO
Following promotion last season, Helsingborgs would’ve anticipated a difficult 2022 Allsvenskan season as they seek to simply avoid relegation and maintain their top-flight status. However, it has probably gone a bit worse than they had prepared for.
Their most recent outing was a 1-1 draw with Kalmar last weekend, ending a run of five successive defeats. The home team begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly at the bottom-of-the-table and three points adrift of the relegation playoff places, six behind Varnamo who are in a position of safety.
They now face a Djurgarden side that are always a perennial challenger for the Swedish title, as one of the biggest sides in the country. Their third-place finish in 2021 is expected to be built upon and they come into this match second in the table after recovering from a slow start to the season.
The visitors’ slender 1-0 win against previous pace-setters Hammarby last weekend made it three successive victories for DIF, under the co-management of Kim Bergstrand and Thomas Lagerlof. They are performing at an impressively high level in attack, too, with the 26 goals that they have scored being the most in the league.
Helsingborg will be without the injured Ali Suljic, Victor Blixt and Sumar Almadjed once again as their already shallow and fairly weak squad for this level remains depleted. Djurgarden, despite being away from home, will be expected to win this one quite comfortably.

Brage v AFC Eskilstuna (Superettan)
🏟
Monday 11th July – 6:00PM KO
Last season, Brage finished tenth in the Superettan table, firmly ensconced in mid-table mediocrity. This time around, though, they have performed above expectations and begin this round of fixtures sitting second-in-the-table just two points behind the red-hot pre-season favourites Halmstad.
Their most recent outing was an impressive and comfortable 3-1 demolition of Vasteras last weekend. That win was much-needed after just one win in their previous four matches had seen them stumble at the top-of-the-table.
AFC Eskilstuna have been the most entertaining and unpredictable team in the Superettan in 2022. The visitors cruised to the top after successive victories to begin their campaign before an inconsistent run of form saw them drift down towards the middle-of-the-table.
They come into this on the back of an impressive 3-1 hammering of Brommapojkarna in their most recent outing last weekend. That was the fourth successive match in which they have scored two or more goals in a game. They have managed 29 goals in 12 games so far this season, which is comfortably the most in the division.
They are one of just three teams to have scored more goals than Brage’s 24, though. So, given that AFC Eskilstuna have conceded 21 goals as well this season, the home team will be confident of exposing the visitors’ clearly shaky back-line.
These are two entertaining sides that are set to be challenging for promotion throughout the campaign and they have both started very well. This should be a good game for the neutral.
