Oldham Athletic v Torquay United
This is a game both sides will be desperate to win and I’m backing the hosts to do so.
It’s fair to say the new era at Oldham Athletic has not got off to the desired start, David Unsworth taking over from John Sheridan only to see his side fall into the bottom four. However, Unsworth may point to the need to overhaul the squad, which he has done, and that he has only played four home matches, two of which came against two of the current top seven.
They have finally been able to field a settled side in recent games and were the better side against Maidstone United and Boreham Wood while also causing Solihull Moors problems.
If ever there was a time for their fortunes to change, it’s live on BT Sport this weekend when they take on Torquay United. The Gulls picked up a surprising 1-0 victory at Dagenham and Redbridge last time out but were comfortably second best and and remain one of the poorest sides in the division.
Their previous five away matches had all ended in defeat and the Gulls failing to score a goal. In fact, they have still only scored five goals on the road all season. Injuries also mean that they have again only been able to field four substitutes.
