Both sides have struggled for form recently, but I can see signs of life with the hosts, and I think they’ll start putting a bit of a run together with some favourable fixtures in the pipeline.

Forest are unbeaten in four in all competitions, including two wins and a draw in the Premier League.

In the current state, I think they have just a little bit more than Palace. Especially given that the Eagles are missing Adam Wharton and Daichi Kamada, to go along with Marc Guehi’s transfer and Jean-Philippe Mateta’s downing of tools.

All this external noise clearly isn’t helping Palace, and they have struggled massively in recent times with squad depth, which is a theme again here.

They’re now winless in 11 in all competitions. That lack of depth has made it near to impossible for them to manage their league campaign alongside their Europa Conference League matches. As a result, performances in both competitions have suffered.

Palace look exhausted. The expectation of last season has also weighed upon them mentally, and as good a manager as Oliver Glasner is, he’s stubborn. Palace have refused to change their system, despite the downturn, and it leaves them predictable and beatable.

Do I think this’ll be the most entertaining game we’ve ever seen? No. But I think squeezing two goals out of it isn't a huge ask. In Morgan Gibbs-white, Yeremy Pino, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Daniel Munoz and Igor Jesus, there is plenty of attacking threat.

Both sides rank low in the league for goals, but are still operating at averages that fit this selection.

Forest games have averaged 2.48 goals, with 83% seeing two or more scored. Their average rises slightly to 2.62 at home as well.

As for Palace, their average sits at 2.26, with 70% of their matches having at least two match goals.

They have been far better on the road, and with that has come more goals.

On their travels, their games have averaged 2.36 goals, with 73% seeing this selection land. A marginal boost, but a boost nonetheless.

This selection also landed in the reverse fixture as the sides drew 1-1 at the beginning of the campaign.

Forest are a bit of a corner machine at home. They’ve taken an average of 6.36 per game at the City ground, a decent jump from their 4.42 average on the road.

They’re consistent, too. They’ve had at least three in every home match, they’ve had four in 92% of them and at the line we’re backing, they’re operating at an 82% strike rate.

They’re a big side, and although they’ve lost some potency from set-plays, they’re still a huge threat, especially with Nicola Milenkovic trotting forward, with corners geared towards finding the big Serbian, who is a monster in the air.

Palace have shipped plenty as well. They’ve conceded an average of 5.91 per game in the Premier League this season and have shipped over 4.5 in 55%, so better than one in two.

Palace have a few names you could pick out for a card anyway, especially with the return of Daniel Munoz. As brilliant as he is, he is extremely aggressive and a frequent name in the referee’s notebook. He has four cards in 15 games this season, and made his way into double figures last term.

We’re also likely to see a double pivot of Jefferson Lerma and Will Hughes. Two extremely combative and aggressive players who are no strangers to bookings themselves.

Palace have averaged 1.98 cards per game this season, which rises to 2.18 when playing away.

They’ve had at least two cards in 61% of games, which rises to 72% when on their travels.

Forest aren’t the best at drawing cards at home, with an average of 1.45. Opponents have left the City Ground with two or more cards in 45% of games here.

But, I think with Forest on an upward trajectory and Palace struggling, plus the changes in personnel and newfound rivalry between the clubs, this is a solid addition.
