📈 Watford v Charlton Form & Stats
Watford's hopes of finishing in the top six took a serious blow when they went down 2-1 away at QPR on Friday. The Hornets ended the weekend in 9th place, eight points adrift of Wrexham in 6th, who currently occupy the final play-off spot.
It has been the very definition of a mixed start for Watford boss Edward Still, who has overseen three wins, three draws and three defeats since taking charge at Vicarage Road in early February. Notably, two of those three victories have come at home, not to mention the Hornets have lost just one of their four matches on their own patch under their new manager.
Both teams have scored in 25 of Watford's 40 Championship matches this season, including five of their previous six.
Watford have netted 2+ goals in 10 of their 20 league games at home this season, a tally bettered only by league leaders Coventry (13).
Charlton suffered back-to-back defeats in the Championship for the first time since January when falling to a 2-1 defeat at home to Bristol City on Friday. It was the Addicks' second consecutive home loss and extended their winless run to three matches. That latest setback leaves Nathan Jones' side 18th in the table. While Charlton are unlikely to be dragged into the relegation battle, they are not completely out of the woods, sitting eight points above the bottom three.
Charlton have been among the most shot-shy sides in the Championship this season, scoring just 37 goals in 40 matches, with only already relegated Sheffield Wednesday managing fewer at this stage. That struggle in front of goal can be attributed to the fact that the capital club have scored two or more goals in only three of their 20 league games away from home this term.
📔 Watford v Charlton Formation & Team News
Since being appointed Watford head coach in early February, Edward Still has preferred a 4-4-2 formation.
Watford could be without as many as eight players through injury on Monday, with Hector Kyprianou, James Abankwah, Jeremy Ngakia, Marc Bola, Othmane Maamma, Pierre Dwomoh, Rocco Vata and Stephen Mfuni all set to miss out.
In better news, Edo Kayembe is expected to return to the Watford squad after missing Friday’s game due to the quick turnaround from international commitments.
Nathan Jones typically sets his side up in a well-structured 3-5-2 formation. The Charlton boss is likely to be considering changes to his starting XI as he looks to arrest his side's current slump in form.
The visitors are likely to be without Collins Sichenje, Josh Edwards and Reece Burke due to injury, but Luke Berry may come back into contention.
