Sunderland return to the Premier League for the first time since the 2016/17 season where they finished bottom and were relegated to the Championship. It’s been a long road back to the top-flight for the Black Cats who spent four seasons in League One as part of their struggles over the last decade.

Sunderland scored 32 goals across their 23 home games in the Championship last season (1.39 per game). The upcoming season will be more of a challenge than the Championship campaign last term, but Sunderland have added attacking reinforcements to their squad, which can aid them in looking to maintain their solid scoring rate at the Stadium of Light from last season.

The signing of Marc Guiu is one to keep an eye on this season, the 19-year-old has looked promising for Chelsea whenever he’s taken to the field and netted six goals across his nine appearances in the Conference League last season. Guiu adds to an already promising frontline, which features Simon Adingra and Wilson Isidor.

The Hammers conceded 28 goals across their 19 away games in the Premier League last season (1.47 per game), Graham Potter’s side only kept seven clean sheets across their 38 games last season (18%) - only Fulham, Tottenham and the three relegated sides kept fewer clean sheets than West Ham last season. 

Burnley had a stellar defensive record last season, conceding just 16 goals across their 46 Championship games. This was far and away the best defensive record in the Championship last season but this defensive record is likely to unravel this season up against the quality of sides in the top-flight.

Tottenham had no issues scoring goals last season, and that shouldn’t change under Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites scored 64 goals across their 38 Premier League games last season (1.68 per game), with 35 of those goals coming in their home games (54%). 

Tottenham scored 2+ goals in three of their six matches against the promoted sides last season, including registering a 5-0 win against Southampton on the road and a 4-1 mauling of Ipswich, also away from home. 

Tottenham should be able to get off to a strong start to the season under Thomas Frank, who has added Mohammed Kudus to his attacking options this seaso,n which will aid Tottenham in registering at least two goals here. Tottenham could also add Eberechi Eze or Savinho to the squad before this opening game, with both players heavily linked in recent days.
