Liverpool can take another important step towards the Champions League knockout rounds on Wednesday when they travel to face Rangers at Ibrox.
Although Jurgen Klopp’s side have not started the season in good form and face significant injury issues, they are strong favourites to earn a third European win in succession.
After all, Rangers have yet to pick up a point or even score a goal in the group stage this season. The hosts, though, will be hoping to use a boisterous home crowd to their advantage.
Here’s our recommended bet builder for the game:
Rangers v Liverpool Bet Builder Tips
Both Teams to Score – No
Although Liverpool have a number of defenders out injured, the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold might actually help them at the back as Joe Gomez will offer a more solid presence in the rearguard. Meanwhile, the biggest fear about Ibrahima Konate stepping into the team is a lack of recent minutes. Virgil van Dijk might be the only regular involved, but it is hardly a rearguard made of rookies against a forward line that has come up short in the Champions League this far.
Rangers have struggled to make an impression going forward in their games thus far and have yet to find the net. Last week at Anfield, they never even got close. They may have scored four in each of their last two Scottish Premiership fixtures, but this has proven a massive step up and one they have been unable to cope with thus far.

Prediction: Both Teams to Score – No
Liverpool -1 Handicap
Liverpool continue to be below their best this season, as was illustrated in their 3-2 loss against Arsenal on Sunday that leaves them 10th in the Premier League table. This, though, is an opportunity against a weaker opponent in which they will hope to regain some confidence.
Although they were only able to win the match at Anfield 2-0, they were entirely dominant in that encounter and had it not been for a fine display from Gers goalkeeper Allan McGregor, they would surely have won by a more significant margin.
Rangers, meanwhile, have lost all of their three Champions League fixtures this season by multiple goals, including a 3-0 home defeat against Napoli. Up against even an out-of-form Liverpool, they will do well to buck this trend.
Remarkably, this will just be the second competitive meeting between these clubs, so there is no past history aside from last week to go on.

Prediction: Liverpool -1 Handicap
Mohammed Salah to have 2 or more Shots on Target
Mohamed Salah is supposedly out of form, yet that is only in comparison to the lofty standards that he has set himself in recent seasons. Indeed, in his last five matches for club and country, he has four goals and an assist to his credit – hardly disastrous figures.
Manager Jurgen Klopp will see this match as an opportunity for Salah to regain some confidence, which likely means giving him plenty of minutes. Certainly, with Luiz Diaz likely out until after the World Cup, there is a sense that if Liverpool are to salvage anything from their season, they need the Egypt star at his best.
He has not come up short for want of trying, either. In five of his last seven matches, he has mustered at least two shots on target. Indeed, his season-high figure in this capacity saw him have three efforts saved against Rangers a week ago. Look for more of the same at Ibrox.
🎯
Prediction: Mohammed Salah to have 2+ Shots on Target
Under 3.5 Cards
There was surprisingly little action for the referee to deal with last week, with just one yellow card apiece. Wednesday’s game could prove to be a little more fraught with Rangers unlikely to sit quite as deep as they did at Anfield. Nevertheless, the pattern of the game is liable to be broadly the same. Liverpool will have much of the ball and will be tasked with breaking down the massed ranks of the home defence.
Rangers showed on Merseyside that they are a disciplined enough side, capable of making life tough for their opponents. With the game tight, though, there was rarely any danger of Reds players getting into the type of breakaway situations that would cause bookings. Similarly, Rangers were not good enough to seriously work the Liverpool defence, and it may well be that there is a repeat of this type of game.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have the joint third-best disciplinary record in the Premier League this season so are not prone to picking up bookings, while their hosts have only seen yellow three times in their last three matches.
