PSG won the first leg 2-0 in Paris and now travel to the Reale Arena hoping to hold onto their advantage. There is set to be a raucous atmosphere inside the stadium with Real Sociedad giving it absolutely everything. Their whole season is on the line after recently getting knocked out of the Copa del Rey and struggling in the La Liga table. The bookmakers can’t split either team for the second leg result and this feels like an open game which is capable of going in either direction.
All of the PSG talk has been surrounding Kylian Mbappe who has been subbed off early in some recent Ligue 1 games. He is set to leave Paris in the summer and manager Luis Enrique has claimed they ‘need to get used to life without him’. It would still be a surprise if he left the field early here though unless PSG are in a comfortable position. The French side have struggled on their travels in Europe this season, losing at both St James Park and the San Siro. Real Sociedad topped a Champions League group containing both Inter and Benfica. They definitely command respect and are perhaps underrated here.
Below we will break down all the best betting angles ahead of this European clash in the Basque region of Spain.

You can find Real Sociedad v PSG match stats, on my bet builder stats tool, along with official line-ups one hour before kick-off.
🎯 Shooting stats: Look to the wide players to fire in attempts
Both sides tend to have inside forwards or inverted wingers who like to cut into the box and then fire in some shots. Ousmane Dembele is a prime candidate for this and averages 2.43 attempts per game. He is often wasteful and isn’t the sort of player you’d back to score anytime. With a lot of attention on Mbappe then it might be Dembele on the break who gets more chances. The 1.83 on offer that he has just two or more shots looks like a massive price.
On the Real Sociedad side, Takefusa Kubo is another player who should fire freely. He is 1.30 to have two or more shots which looks extremely likely considering he’s one of their prime attacking options. Kubo averages 2.30 shots per 90 minutes and will be in an area of the field where PSG can be vulnerable. We know the visitors have defensive absences and once he is inside then a makeshift Danilo Pereira will have problems.
Predictions:
⚽ Ousmane Dembele to have 2+ shots @ 1.83
⚽ Takefusa Kubo to have 2+ shots @ 1.30
🟨 Cards stats: Michael Oliver the man in the middle
English referee Michael Oliver takes charge of this game and he could be kept very busy. Real Sociedad matches average nearly six per game and they are going to be very committed here. PSG’s card stats can be a bit distorted because domestically they are so dominant. In the Champions League they have obtained the fourth most cards of any team at an average of exactly three per game. Over 3.5 cards is not asking too much here and looks like a great bet builder addition at odds of 1.25. For those who prefer bigger odds then you could look at over 4.5 or even over 5.5 cards. Michael Oliver is averaging 4.59 cards per game this season and took charge of Real Sociedad’s group game with Inter in which he dished out six bookings.
Predictions:
⚽ Over 3.5 cards @ 1.30
🛑 Fouls stats: Look to midfield mayhem
There are going to be several big battles across the field and some committed performances. The middle of the park stands out for foul potential though. Mikel Merino vs Manuel Ugarte could get spicy and each could get the other booked. Merino averages nearly three fouls per 90 mins and Ugarte nearly two. You can back Merino to have two or more fouls at 1.40 which looks like excellent bet builder material. With everything on the line for his team it’s difficult not to see him getting stuck in. Ugarte is slightly bigger at 1.44 and it’s hard to see him playing a clean game.
Another interesting battle is going to be on the right-hand side between Brais Mendez and Nuno Mendes. Both players have a high average foul count and could be the type of contest that sees both of them take chunks out of each other. Mendes has been on the sidelines for most of the season injured and only played 52 mins of competitive action. There’s no way he’s at full sharpness so he could be backed to have one or more fouls. The lack of certainly with his minutes is off-putting though, so the best option is to stick with the safer midfield players.
Predictions:
⚽ Mikel Merino to commit 2+ fouls @ 1.40
⚽ Manuel Ugarte to commit 2+ fouls @ 1.44
