Roma v Inter
📅
Kick Off: Sunday 20th October at 19:45
🏆
Competition: Serie A
A busy Sunday of Serie A action concludes with a trip to the Stadio Olimpico and with hosts Roma currently languishing in the middle of the table, they could arguably do without the visit of Inter this weekend.
Simone Inzaghi’s men start the weekend two points off the current league pace that has been sent by Antonio Conte’s Napoli and since their defeat in the latest edition of the Milan derby, the defending champions have won back-to-back league encounters.
⭐ Roma v Inter Best Bets
Considering the indifferent start that Roma have made this season, it is difficult to consider them in terms of victory on Sunday, especially when you account for how much better Inter have been in the opening two months.
The blue and black half of Milan arrive here having lost just one league game this season and with 16 goals to their name they are also the joint top scorers before the weekend. With the gap between the two sides looking wide, we are backing the away win here.

🔍 Roma v Inter Players to Watch
🟠 Bryan Cristante
One player that we are going to place under the spotlight is Bryan Cristante and although there is no doubting his talents on the pitch, he can hamper his opponents at times. Cristante has given away an average of 1.43 fouls per game since the start of the season and with the 29-year-old also having earned two yellow cards since the opening week.
Considering his position on the pitch and the waves of attack that Inter are likely to generate, the versatile player may need to use every trick in the box to keep his opponents at a safe distance, which could see him sin a couple of times here.
🔵 Marcus Thuram
With Inter likely leading the line with both Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez, a partnership that has already scored nine league goals this season offers a welcoming proposition when looking at the goalscoring markets.
With Martinez having scored only two of those nine combined goals, it comes as a slight surprise to see him with shorter odds than his teammate, especially as his teammate is currently joint-top of the Serie A scoring charts.
Thuram has scored seven goals this season in Serie A and has contributed to 44% of Inter’s overall tally to date.
🔵 Lautaro Martinez
Lautaro Martinez may have only scored two league goals this season but is often considered a thorn in the side of any opposition and with an average of 2.8 shots per game in Serie A this season, he is at least taking chances if not converting them.
Of course, 2.8 shots per game on average is not 2.8 shots on target per game and this is where backing Martinez to have at least two efforts on goal on Sunday is a slight leap of faith. However, at the odds offered in this market, we think the leap is a justified one.

💻 Roma v Inter Form and Tactics
In their last outing before the international break, Roma were set up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in their draw at Monza. The same shape was also utilised against Elfsborg in the Europa League days before when they suffered a shock 1-0 reverse in Sweden.
Whether this means a change of style before the visit of Inter at the weekend remains to be seen but for their recent woes, it should also be noted that they are currently topping the charts when it comes to average shots per game in Serie A with 16.9 – by comparison Inter are second with 16.4.
As for Inter, their recent 3-2 win over Torino saw manager Simone Inzaghi opt to also use a back three. However, this is where the similarities ended as a five-man midfield was deployed, with Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram positioned up top.
There is no doubt that Inter prefer to be in possession rather than be chasing the ball and this is signified by an average of 59.9% this season – the second highest this season and when they are in possession, they rarely give it away due to a 90% pass accuracy (behind Juventus in both metrics).
