J-Sodra v Halmstad
🏟
Saturday 13th August – 2:00PM KO
These two sides have been experiencing very different seasons and they are expected to have very different outlooks and outcomes for the rest of the 2022 Superettan season.
Jonkopings Sodra come into this on the back of a surprise 2-0 victory away against AFC Eskilstuna, though, to suggest more could be made of the rest of their season. That made it back-to-back victories for J-Sodra as they sit firmly ensconced in the middle-of-the-table. A 1-1 draw against strugglers Ostersund the other week being an example of their inconsistencies.
The home team have now lost just one of their last six matches and, whilst recent performances and results indicate a potential rise into the top-half, survival remains the focus and would be viewed as a successful campaign.
That outlook is quite the opposite for their upcoming opposition, Halmstad. Following relegation from the Allsvenskan last season, they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly at the top-of-the-table.
Their comfortable 3-1 victory at home to Dalkurd last weekend made it five successive victories. They have scored 41 goals so far this season, which is very impressive. That is also represented in their underlying data so their performances and results match up
The reverse fixture between these two finished 2-1 to Halmstad as they collected three points at home but J-Sodra showed their attacking potential. This match following the same theme seems likely.

Dalkurd v OIS
🏟
Saturday 13th August – 2:00PM KO
This one is a game between two teams with one goal, really, for the rest of the season. That goal is to ensure survival in the Superettan.
The two teams are separated by one point and one place in the table but both are occupying dangerous spots. OIS begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting 15th and in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places, whilst Dalkurd are level on points with Vasteras but sitting third-from-bottom in the relegation playoff place.
Both sides have, whether it be chance or genuine improvement, realised the time is running out and have begun to put runs together in this final section of the season.
The home team come into this on the back of an impressive 1-0 win away at mid-table Orebro, taking their unbeaten run of form five matches. The hosts also defeated Utsiktens a couple of weeks ago as they battle against the drop.
Dalkurd’s most recent outing, last weekend, was a 3-1 defeat away to runaway league leaders and champions-elect Halmstad. That result was no disgrace and should be viewed as a free-hit. Prior to that loss, they had collected seven points from their previous three matches.
These are two weak sides in the Swedish second-tier but the two teams have clearly improved as they sense the impending doom. The two sides are among the lowest scorers in the league and, given that this is a vital match expected to be tight and tense, this is unlikely to be a thriller for the neutral.
