Monza vs Udinese
🏟
Friday 26th August – 5:30PM KO
Neither of these teams have had a particularly thrilling start to the Serie A season and this game is unlikely to throw up a classic.
There were high hopes for Monza after an extremely busy transfer window with players like Stefano Sensi and Matteo Pessina joining. It’s clear that if they are to get that mid-table finish that many have tipped them for, it will take some time to get the team gelled together. They were beaten at home by a Torino team that has had a terrible pre-season and then they were beaten very handily by Napoli 4-0.
There’s no shame in a newly-promoted side getting beaten by Napoli, but Giovanni Stroppa’s side really showed no hope at all of getting anything from that game. As for Udinese, they were moderately dangerous in the 4-2 defeat against Milan on matchday 1 but seemed to revert back to what they were at the start of last season with a 0-0 draw against Salernitana.
Neither team are confident and neither is banging the goals in. For Monza, the main objective could just be to avoid another defeat and Stroppa knows that his future is on the line already given they contemplated a manager change after promotion was secured.

Lazio v Inter
🏟
Friday 26th August – 7:45PM KO
This is one of the first big games between teams towards the top of the table and it will certainly be the biggest test for them both so far.
The Stadio Olimpico will be packed for the game and the fans will be demanding more goals from Maurizio Sarri’s side. They have been amongst the league’s top scorers for many seasons but they drew a blank against Torino last weekend in a 0-0. It is no secret that Turin is an extremely tough place to go and find the back of the net if the Granata are on their game.
Lazio will know that a win over Inter would seriously kick start their campaign and lead to a serious swell of belief around the club. They certainly have goals in the team, and they certainly have the ability to concede them. If there is a team that can punish Lazio, it’s Inter.
Last season’s top scorers have already found the back of the net five times this season and they beat Spezia 3-0 at San Siro last weekend. There was some clear linkup play between Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku and it would be very surprising if the Nerazzurri do not score at the Olimpico.
You can never back against Lazio scoring though and for that reason, it could be a highly entertaining matchup.
