What more is there to say about Sheffield Wednesday this season? They have one solitary victory, away at Portsmouth back in September, and they have lost nine matches in a row, scoring only once against Millwall last time out in that period.

Wednesday have averaged 0.6 goals per game, but they have conceded two goals per game, and 2.13xG per match as well. They haven’t scored in an away match in five attempts in the league either, and haven’t created more than 1xG in an away match since playing Watford on the 9th of December.

Joe Rothwell is still suspended following his red card on debut, and Sam McCallum is definitely out of this one, too.

It is expected that Chris Wilder will field the same team that he did in their win over Portsmouth last time out. This should take the shape of a 4-2-3-1, with Patrick Bamford leading the line. Sydie Peck and Jairo Riedewald are fit and back to pressure Oli Arblaster and Kalvin Phillips, but the lineup is expected to remain the same. Andre Brooks and Gus Hamer are also under pressure to retain their places.

Sheffield Wednesday will play their seventh goalkeeper of the season, with yet another emergency loan. Indeed, Seny Dieng will become the second Middlesbrough goalkeeper to play for them this season because Murphy Cooper is injured. 

In front of Dieng, we are expecting to see a 4-2-3-1 as well, with Jerry Yates up front on his own. Svante Ingelsson and Jaden Heskey have been something of a shining light in central midfield in recent weeks and will look to hold their own in the midfield battle.

There are no other new injury issues or suspensions for Henrik Pedersen to deal with, but there is still a long list of Wednesday players in the treatment room.
