Fuelled by a passion for sport and a sharp instinct for uncovering patterns in data, beating the bookies became the perfect outlet for my competitive streak. Now I take pleasure in sharing my finds with ABC punters. I enjoy finding niche angles and betting value in a range of markets and leagues, my favourite being in Serie A.
Neither Slavia Prague nor Athletic Club have had much luck in Europe this season, accumulating 2 and 3 points respectively.
On the positive side of things, that means it’s all to play for on Tuesday, but realistically, the door to the Champions League Knockout Stage is only likely to remain open to whoever can record a victory in Prague.

📈 Slavia Prague v Athletic Club Form & Stats
Slavia Prague have had a pretty mixed start to their campaign. They remain undefeated with 16 games played in the Czech First League, although the six stalemates they’ve recorded definitely cast a shadow over that record.
That said, things haven’t been so plain-sailing in the Champions League, where they’ve managed only two points from their four matches to date. Most recently, they offered very little as Arsenal cruised to a routine 3-1 win in Prague.
Since then, Jindrich Trpisovsky’s men have claimed consecutive victories in the league - both confident displays with a 2-goal margin separating them from their opponents.
Athletic Club come into this clash in the midst of what is surely bordering on a crisis, albeit disguised by a tightly packed La Liga mid-table. On paper, 8th position doesn’t look like the end of the world, but in actual fact, there are fewer points separating them from the relegation zone (7) than from the top-four (8), and their trajectory would suggest that things are only getting worse.
Of their 17 La Liga points, they picked up nine across their opening three games, with their PPG dropping to just 0.8 since. Last time out, Valverde’s men were battered 4-0 by Barcelona, as Oihan Sancet saw red in the 54th minute to compound their miseries. Athletic’s 3-1 victory remains their only European success so far this season, with Arsenal, Dortmund, and most recently Newcastle, each proving too strong.
