I've put together a double at around 3/1 for Bunting v Clayton. I've been impressed with 'The Ferret' so far this tournament and I think he will be too good for Bunting here - he should bag plenty of 180s along the way, too.

Jonny Clayton to Win

Jonny Clayton is one of the players that has impressed me the most across the opening two rounds. ‘The Ferret’ booked his quarter-final spot after seeing off both Martin Schindler and Mike De Decker in eye-catching fashion. While he now faces his toughest test so far in the shape of Stephen Bunting, I think the value lies with the Welshman here.

‘The Bullet’ made heavy weather of his wins over both Ryan Joyce and Gary Anderson, and in my opinion, Bunting will need to raise his level of performance or he’ll get severely punished by in-form Clayton. Bunting’s finishing has been pretty poor over the first two rounds of action, particularly against Gary Anderson where he hit less than 30% of his doubles (12/43). In contrast, Clayton has been a lot more efficient on the outer ring, most notably landing just shy of 42% (10/24) of his doubles in his win over Schindler.

While I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one go deep in terms of legs, both the eye test and numbers point towards Clayton offering a bit more value at a better price than that of Bunting.

Jonny Clayton Over 9.5 180s

We should see plenty of 180s in Stephen Bunting’s clash with Jonny Clayton. While I’m anticipating both players to contribute to a high maximum count here, I’m keen to back Clayton to cover the Over 9.5 line. ‘The Ferret’ fired in eight 180s in his round one victory over Martin Schindler and then went one better, hitting nine when dispatching Mike De Decker.

Those two ties were first to 10 legs, and then first to 11 legs respectively. This quarter-final is a first to 16 leg match, giving Clayton plenty of time to reach this 180 line - I fully expect Clayton to hit similar numbers, if not more as far as the 180s are concerned, thanks to the extended format here.

The Welsh number one is a player that tends to fly under the radar when it comes to filling up the treble 20 bed. In fact, Clayton’s seasonal return of 293 is currently bettered by only 11 players across the entire PDC. With all that in mind, it makes sense to support Clayton to deliver Over 9.5 180s during this contest, with plenty of value on offer at odds of 2.10.
