Club Sarmiento v Patronato
🏟
Sunday 19th June – 00:30AM KO
Last season Club Sarmiento were on the verge of making the play-offs, they battled until the last day, but finally missed out on the season finale. Nevertheless, the side that was dubbed one of the main candidates for relegation, surprised me positively. They started this Liga Profesional season with a home victory and two away defeats, which is about what you’d expect from them. They barely lost any players from the successful side from last season and with Lucas Castro they even signed a player with almost a decade of experience in the Italian Serie A.
Patronato don’t look that good. Since Facundo Sava joined the side halfway last season, they have improved a bit, but none of it is very convincing. Even against Aldosivi in trouble, they were on the back foot for most of the game. They did end up winning, which makes them a mid-table team after three matches, but that seems flattering for the side.
Despite the good results from last season, Sarmiento are still in the battle against relegation, but that goes even more so for Patronato, who are bottom of that table at the moment, so the stakes are high in this match. I think Sarmiento are the much better side between the two relegation candidates and should be the clear favourite in their home stadium, but the bookmaker thinks it’ll be a close affair, so I think it is worth going on Sarmiento to take the victory, without going all-in.

Huracán v Atlético Tucumán
🏟
Sunday 19th June – 7:30PM KO
Atlético Tucumán started the season well. After two draws against decent opponents, they beat Lanús midweek and took their first victory of the season. They generally look steady and with Bolivian national team goalkeeper Carlos Lampe they picked up a class player for this season. Lampe is already worth his penny as he was man of the match in the 0-0 at River Plate. Away at Huracán won’t be an easy job, but they have their entire squad available for this game and that bodes well.
The bookies mostly rate Tucumán as the underdog, but since Pusineri is in charge, they only lost one out of the eight games they played. They haven’t become a team that scores lots, but they have improved massively at the back and that has made them very difficult to beat. Huracán is a decent team as well, they had the chances to win the away game at Defensa y Justicia midweek, but a draw there is not a bad result either.
Like Túcuman, Huracán seems to be complete as well. Goalkeeper Marcos Díaz is out injured, but he is also looking for a new club as new manager Diego Dabove signed Lucas Chaves as his first goalkeeper before the start of the season. I think Tucumán have the momentum and I don’t see Huracán beating them, that’s why I’d go on the away side to get a result here.
