Midtjylland v Viborg
🏟
Sunday 2nd October – 1:00PM KO
Sunday’s early Superliga match is a Central Jutland Derby. Besides the Copenhagen derby between Brøndby and FC Copenhagen, this is the most heated match in Denmark, and this should be interesting.
The home side entered the international break with an impressive victory over FC Copenhagen and a 5-1 demolition of SS Lazio. Confidence should be through the roof at MCH Arena. Midtjylland dominated both fixtures and newly appointed head coach Albert Capellas is starting to leave his mark on the team. Midtjylland are improving quickly. They’re now sitting eighth and have become the highest scoring team in the Superliga.
The guests are also entering this match with confidence. They haven’t lost since the end of August when West Ham visited in the Conference League qualification. Since then, they have played five games, securing four wins and then a draw in their last outing. However, Viborg has also just sold their big star Lonwijk to Dynamo Kyiv. The Dutch star left in the national team break, and he will be missed.
Viborg have lost three of their four away matches this season in the Superliga, and Midtjylland has won the previous two meetings between these two clubs. The home team is by far the strongest on paper and odds 1.70 at Betfair Sportsbook on the home victory looks a solid bet here.

Silkeborg v AC Horsens
🏟
Sunday 2nd October – 1:00PM KO
Silkeborg v Horsens is another local derby. While Silkeborg is well supported, Horsens is not, and one should not expect any special atmosphere here.
Silkeborg warmed up to this Superliga match with a midweek cup match against Næstved from the 2 nd tier. Silkeborg won 3-0 and should thus have confidence going into this one. This was needed as the red and whites had lost two matches in a row before the cup game. However, in the Conference League match against West Ham, 3-2 defeat, Silkeborg played an excellent game, and had it not been for robbery from the referee, they could easily have gotten at least one point. At home on the Astroturf at Jysk Park, Silkeborg are also excellent. It is no easy place for the away teams, and Silkeborg should be eager to get back on track in the Superliga here.
AC Horsens has had a weird season so far. They are currently sixth in the table, which is excellent considering their budget, but they have only scored nine goals – the second lowest in the league. They aren’t producing many chances, and have the lowest number of shots among all Superliga clubs, so they definitely have more points than they should have. Nevertheless, variance is a factor in football, and Horsens shouldn’t be underestimated. They have a strong defense, and before the national team break, they managed to defeat FC Nordsjælland.
When speaking of Horsens though, it should be mentioned that they get most of their points at home. Away in the Superliga, they have won just one of five matches and scored only two goals. Odds 1.70 on Silkeborg to win at home is great value and our pick for the game.

Brøndby v Lyngby
🏟
Sunday 2nd October – 3:00PM KO
Ask any Brøndby fan what they think about when meeting Lyngby, and they’ll mention the match in 2002 that secured them the championship in the last round. Now 20 years later, we have another meeting between two of the historic clubs from Zealand.
The home side is not in a good shape. Things are arguably looking better after a bunch of strong signings at the end of the transfer window though. They are unbeaten in their last three matches in the Superliga, but they remain firmly planted in 10th. Brøndby needs to start winning games soon to climb up the table. Luckily, the team has been playing better. They were unlucky to not beat Randers three weeks ago, and the offense is looking better each week. They are creating more chances now, and their strikers are finally scoring goals again.
Scoring goals is one thing Lyngby doesn’t do. With just eight goals scored so far, they have the league’s worst offense, and there are no signs of improvement. They have the lowest xG in the league with just 10.8, and they are yet to win a match this season. Lyngby is already dead last in the league, and it would require a miracle to stay up.
The home side is not in the shape they would like to be in, but they are firm favorites at home. Brøndby has strong support from the fans, and Lyngby are looking terrible. Odds 1.65 on Brøndby at Betfair Sportsbook is a great value.

FC Copenhagen v AGF
🏟
Sunday 2nd October – 5:00PM KO
This week’s match of the week in the Danish Superliga is between FC Copenhagen and Aarhus. Denmark’s largest city v the second largest. Needless to say, these clubs don’t like each other at all.
During the national team break, FC Copenhagen sacked head coach Jess Thorup. He’s been replaced by 34-year-old Jacob Neestrup, who was previously assistant coach to Thorup. Neestrup is described as the Danish Julian Nagelsmann, and it will be interesting to see how he approaches this new challenge. Neestrup did a good job at Viborg, his only head coaching job to date, but FC Copenhagen is a completely different size, and the pressure will be immense. Unfortunately, he inherits a team that is in crisis. The defense has been terrible this season, conceding 17 goals so far, and they are currently on the wrong end of the table with 12 points after 10 games.
In Aarhus, things are looking better. Uwe Rösler, who was hired before this season, has placed them in the top half of the league, and AGF has managed to both entertain their fans and be effective so far. AGF has a great offense with strikers Sigurd Haugen and Patrick Mortensen already looking like one of the best duos in the league.
Six of the previous seven matches between these two sides have ended with both teams scoring, and I expect this trend to continue as neither team are effective in the back but both have great strikers. Odds
1.74 on both teams to score at Betfair is great value.
