Sunday’s Euro 2024 Qualifying Goals Double Tips
Albania v Poland
Albania welcome Poland to the Air Albania Stadium in Tirana in this intriguing match up in Group E.
Albania have some good attacking talent but are equally vulnerable at the back. This is evidenced by the fact that six of their last eight competitive fixtures have seen both sides find the back of the net.
Experienced striker Sokol Cikalleshi (12 goals in 55 caps) will lead the line and will be supported by the creativity of Sassuolo midfielder Nedim Bajrami who has scored in his last three internationals, including grabbing the equaliser in Prague against the Czech Republic in their last outing.
Fernando Santos is a serial winner on the international stage having won the European Championship in 2016 and the UEFA Nations League in 2019, both with Portugal. The 68-year-old looks to be finally getting over his methods to the Polish team as they recorded a dominant and routine win over the Faroe Islands on Thursday, to a 2-0 scoreline.
However, Poland’s two away fixtures in the group have generated a total of nine goals with respective defeats against Czech Republic (3-1) and Moldova (3-2), and they’ll be looking for better fortunes on the road. Despite the reverse fixture only returning one goal in a narrow win for Poland, there were plenty of chances in the game and it would be no surprise to see a few more goals this time around.
Expect plenty of chances for both sides in this one and the over 2.5 goals market is our weapon of choice.
Greece v Gibraltar
The OPAP Arena, home to AEK Athens, will play centre stage for Greece vs Gibraltar in what should be a comfortable win for the home side in Group B.
Despite a 3-0 loss to the Netherlands in their last match, Greece have performed well under the guidance of former Premier League manager Gus Poyet (W8, D2, L5). The Uruguayan’s side have already booked a ticket to the European Championship qualifying play-offs via the Nations League route, but they would surely rather finish in the top two to avoid this lottery if possible.
A home game against Gibraltar provides the perfect platform for the Greeks to get back on track in pursuit of a first appearance in the competition for 12 years. Former Celtic striker Georgios Giakoumakis will provide the main threat going forward having scored 13 goals in 21 appearances for Atlanta United this season.
Gibraltar’s hopes of qualifying for their first major tournament are virtually none existent having lost their opening four games, conceding 12 goals and not scoring at alll. In the reverse fixture, Greece prevailed by a 3-0 margin, amassing nearly 30 attempts on the Gibraltar goal.
Greece should punish an inferior Gibraltar side, and although the away side are unlikely to score, backing Greece to bag a few is the selection, over 2.5 goals should be a banker.
18+ please gamble responsibly.
