Spezia v Napoli
🏟
Sunday 22nd May – 11:30AM KO
Sunday’s early Serie A kick-off has nothing on the line with Napoli visiting the Stadio Alberto Picco to take on a Spezia side who have already achieved their objectives for the season.
The Aquilotti’s survival was achieved with their recent win away at Udinese, and there’s likely to be a party atmosphere in Liguria, though they may well have spent much of the week in the build-up to this weekend on the beaches around the region.
As a result of that win in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, it’s hard to see how the hosts will be too motivated to do a double over Napoli, having won the first meeting with the then-title contenders 1-0 in Campania.
It’s more likely that Sunday’s game will go the way of the visitors, with Spezia having lost six of their last ten games against top-three opponents. What’s more is that they haven’t won two back-to-back wins since their three-match winning run in January.
Napoli, as well, have kept a clean sheet in each of their last two outings, performing close to their early-season levels since having the pressure of a title challenge off their shoulders after a series of slips.

Inter v Sampdoria
🏟
Sunday 22nd May – 5:00PM KO
Sunday is set to be a day of goodbyes for Inter as they host Sampdoria at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza with the Serie A title on the line. A number of first-team players are set to feature for the last time in the Nerazzurri shirt, and they could also have to hand over their status as Italian champions after just one year.
Inter host Sampdoria with dreams of being crowned champions again, but they know that they can beat the Blucerchiati and have no good come from it, aware that AC Milan need to lose at Sassuolo to stand a chance.
But Simone Inzaghi’s side are likely to come out firing in their own game, and Samp will likely travel to Milan fearing the worst and grateful to have had their survival confirmed a week earlier.
There have been 23 goals scored in their last six meetings, with both teams scoring in each. But this weekend’s game is a very different situation and Inter won’t be able to afford giving Samp as much as a sniff of goal.
Each of the last four games these two have played in the second half of the season have seen Inter wins, and it’s hard to see anything other than that happening this coming weekend.

Sassuolo v AC Milan
🏟
Sunday 22nd May – 5:00PM KO
AC Milan are on the verge of their first Serie A title since 2010/11, and even a draw at Sassuolo’s Mapei Stadium on Sunday will confirm them as Italian champions ahead of cross-city rivals Inter.
As well as claiming a 3-1 win over Milan at the Stadio San Siro earlier this season, the Neroverdi have also beaten Atalanta, Fiorentina, Inter, Lazio, and Juventus this term. So Alessio Dionisi’s side are unlikely to be a guaranteed source of three points for the title hopefuls.
History would also suggest a balanced affair, with each side having won six of their 17 previous Serie A meetings, and five of those ending in draws.
That said, Sassuolo’s season has been over for a number of weeks now, and that was best seen when they shipped six away at Napoli earlier in May, falling apart from the very first whistle.
Milan, as a result, will travel to Reggio Emilia confident of getting a result, and having beaten Atalanta, Lazio, and Fiorentina in recent weeks with each of those sides still going for Europe, it’s hard to imagine them falling short against a Sassuolo side with nothing at stake.
The Serie A title, then, should be crossing to the other side of San Siro this Sunday evening.

Salernitana v Udinese
🏟
Sunday 22nd May – 8:00PM KO
Few sides have enjoyed as miraculous a turnaround as Salernitana this season, and they can complete their great escape as they host Udinese on Sunday evening.
The Granata will play in front of a packed-out and undoubtedly atmospheric Stadio Arechi knowing that only a win will guarantee survival, with either a draw or loss opening the door for Cagliari to catch them and see the Sardinians stay in Serie A for 2022/23.
Davide Nicola has led his side to a remarkable seven-game unbeaten run to end the campaign, and only once in that run have we seen one of the sides not score. Curiously, that did come in the rearranged meeting between these two sides that saw Salernitana win 1-0 in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
That game is the only of Salernitana’s last eight that has seen a side fail to find the net, and it’s likely that both teams will be on target this weekend. Udinese are more than capable of troubling their hosts on the break, while the Campania side know that they simply have to win if they want to play in Serie A next season.

Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals, 1.57 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Venezia v Cagliari
🏟
Sunday 22nd May – 8:00PM KO
The other big game at the bottom comes with Cagliari visiting Venezia and the game at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo is likely to be a bit of a funny one, and not too dissimilar to the situation in the other three big games on Sunday.
Cagliari have been deserving of their place in the bottom three this season, but facing a terrible and relegated Venezia side on the final day might just present them with one last chance at survival. They’re the only team with anything on the line in Veneto, but they’re hardly a side that can be trusted to get the job done.
Venezia will be carefree coming into this clash, and there could be a real ‘end of season’ feel about the Arancioneroverde, which can bring unpredictability.
With Cagliari in need of three points and Venezia playing with no pressure, it won’t come as a surprise to see goals in this one. The Sardinians have to push forward, and the hosts have pace to punish them with swift counterattacks, not to mention they’ve drawn 1-1 with Roma and beaten Bologna 4-3 in their last two outings.
The Rossoblu should have enough to get them over the line with a win, but they can’t be relied upon to keep a clean sheet at the other end, last doing so on April 16 against Sassuolo.
