Silkeborg v West Ham

This Conference League fixture is West Ham’s second trip to Jutland in just a few weeks. In the qualification they defeated Viborg, a neighbouring city to Silkeborg, and now they are back for more.

The home side are playing in a European group stage for the first time ever and are in their first European campaign since 2001. The home match against West Ham is the biggest game they have played this decade, and the whole city is buzzing. Unfortunately, Silkeborg are not in the best shape at the moment as they enter this matchup with just one victory in their last five outings. This did come on the weekend though, and it broke a streak of three consecutive defeats. Silkeborg lost their best player, Nicolai Vallys, on deadline day, and top scorer Nicklas Helenius is in a scoring drought. Their attack is near toothless at the moment.

For West Ham things are looking slightly better. The Hammers got a difficult start to the season but have lost just one of their last five games, away to Chelsea, and are trending upwards. Last week, they defeated Steaua in the opening match, and now they are expected to follow up on that victory with another three points.
