Bodo/Glimt welcome Tottenham for their first ever home game in the Champions League. The Norwegian side earned a point in their first game of the campaign as they drew 2-2 with Slavia Prague.

Tottenham won 1-0 against Villarreal at home in the opening game of the Champions League campaign and have avoided defeat in their last five matches across all competitions.

These recommended Best Bet Builder Bookmakers are worth a look for the week's midweek Europa League action.

Both Teams to Score

Bodo/Glimt have seen BTTS in each of their last six matches across all competitions, losing just one of these games. This recent run includes their first game of the Champions League season as they earned a 2-2 with Slavia Prague, with 10 shots on target and an xG of 2.52.

This will be Bodo/Glimt’s first ever Champions League game at home, so we can expect Tottenham to be welcomed by an intense atmosphere in what will be a foreign experience to Thomas Frank, as he also takes his team away from home in Europe for the first time in his career.

Tottenham saw BTTS against Wolves last time out and I think they’ll crack a little under the pressure of this being an away tie.

Tottenham GK 2+ Saves

Vicario has made 2+ saves in all six of his Premier League matches so far this season, totalling 21 across these matches (3.50 per 90). He’s maintained an 84% save percentage across these games, which is a promising record ahead of the test he faces here.

Bodo/Glimt managed 10 shots on target in their 2-2 draw with Slavia Prague last time out, drawing eight saves from the opposition keeper. They’re averaging 6.00 shots on target per 90 in the Norwegian top flight so far this term, so we can expect Vicario to be regularly tested here.

These sides faced off in the knockout stages of the Europa League last season with Vicario forced into making two saves in the second leg - when Bodo/Glimt were the home side.

Pedro Porro to Commit 1+ Fouls

Pedro Porro has committed seven fouls across his six appearances in the Champions League this season (1.38 per 90). He’s still pretty forward thinking despite the movement in the dugout, but he can be exposed with his occasionally lax positioning that is also a factor in Porro being forced to commit fouls.

He didn’t commit a foul in the opening game of the Champions League, but he was forced into making two tackles and four clearances. I’d expect him to be more regularly tested in this game, Porro will be facing up against Bodo/Glimt’s most inform player in Jens Petter Hauge.

Hauge has registered five goal contributions across his last five games for Bodo across all competitions. He’s won 19 fouls in the Eliteserien this term (1.02 per 90) and I expect him to test Porro regularly.

Lucas Bergvall to be Fouled 1+ Times

Bergvall has won three fouls across his six Premier League appearances so far this season (0.74 per 90), which isn’t the most standout record, but I can see it increasing in the coming weeks seeing as Bergvall has been pushed higher up the pitch by Thomas Frank.

Bergvall had previously played in a deeper holding role, but Frank clearly thinks he has the attributes to affect the game higher up the pitch. He’s registered two goal contributions in the Premier League already this season playing as a number 10. This is particularly important for Tottenham seeing as their main creative players in Kulusevski and Maddison are both sidelined.

Bergvall won 17 fouls across his 11 starts in the Premier League last season (1.27 per 90). He was fouled twice in Tottenham’s opening game of the Champions League season against Villarreal, too.

Kasper Hogh to Score Anytime

Kasper Hogh is Bodo/Glimt’s main goal threat. I’ve backed him a few times this season already and he tends to deliver. Hogh has netted 16 goals and registered five assists across just 19 starts in the Eliteserien so far this term.

Hogh was pretty effective in Europe for Bodo/Glimt as well, scoring seven goals across his 14 appearances in the Europa League last season. He’s already eclipsed his record in the Eliteserien from last campaign and will be eager to score on a massive occasion for the club, as they host their first ever Champions League match.

He should have really scored against Slavia Prague in Bodo/Glimt’s opening game of the Champions League, but missed from the penalty spot. His record this season, coupled with his strong performances in the Europa League last term, make Hogh a strong option to score here.

Mohammed Kudus to Commit 2+ Fouls

Kudus has been one of Tottenham’s brightest players so far this season and the one area of his game that has really stood out to me so far is his aggression. Thomas Frank likes his attack to be the first line of defence, and Kudus is the perfect player for that.

The former West Ham winger is energetic and presses with intensity when Tottenham are without the ball. He’s committed nine fouls across his six appearances in the Premier League this season (1.53 per 90), with the 25 year old committing one foul in Tottenham’s first Champions League game against Villarreal.

Bodo/Glimt managed to draw 10 fouls from Tottenham in this fixture last season, with four of those fouls spread across Tottenham’s frontline. Kudus’ main opponent is likely to be Bjorkan who has won 40 fouls across his 21 appearances in the Eliteserien so far this term (2.05 per 90).

Tottenham Over 1.5 Goals

Tottenham scored 2+ goals in both legs of their Europa League semi-final tie against Bodo/Glimt last season and I think they’ll be able to repeat that here, with the current state of Bodo's backline.

The home side have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last six matches, conceding 2+ goals in two of these games - one of which was their 2-2 draw against Slavia Prague on the opening matchday of the Champions League.

This isn’t a sustainable defensive record and it will catch Bodo out on this stage, which can be unforgiving to sides that aren’t used to the quality and pressure of the competition.

Tottenham have scored 2+ goals in three of their last five matches. They will probably have to score more than once here to avoid defeat as even though Bodo have been without clean sheets of late, they have managed to score in each of their last six matches.

📈 Bodo/Glimt v Tottenham Form & Tactics

Both sides come into this game with promising recent records. Neither side has lost a game in any of their last five matches across all competitions, with each team registering three wins in this period.

Bodo/Glimt are contesting their first ever Champions League game at home, so we can expect quite the atmosphere from the Norwegian crowd. Bodo/Glimt have seen BTTS in each of their last six matches across all competitions, so an exciting game is also in store.

Tottenham have made a steady start to the season, but it has been interrupted by injuries and some stale performances, which has exposed their lack of creative output at the moment. Their performance against Wolves last time out showcased this, they struggled to break the visitors down and were held to a 1-1 draw.

The pattern for Tottenham at the moment seems to be that they struggle in matches where they are expected to take the game to the opposition, this is part of managing a big club that Frank is still adapting too.

📔 Bodo/Glimt v Tottenham Formation & Team News

Thomas Frank has been playing with a 4-2-3-1 since he arrived at Tottenham, with Bergvall playing just ahead of two holding midfielders.

This has blended into a 4-3-3 at times when Frank wants to sure up the midfield a little, but this is also where Tottenham are missing key creative players. The absences of Kulusevski and Maddison are having a real effect on the side, they’re struggling to manufacture chances against low blocks without the pair.

Bodo/Glimt line up in a 4-3-3 with a real emphasis on their wide players. Jens Potter Hauge has been in sensational form for Bodo over the last few weeks, so we can expect the Norwegian side to feed him on the left wing as often as possible.

The most notable player set to be absent for Bodo here is Ulrik Saltnes. He scored against Tottenham in the first leg of the semi-final of the Europa League last season, and has registered 11 goal contributions domestically this term.

📊 Bodo/Glimt v Tottenham Key Stats

  • Tottenham ran out 5-1 winners over two legs when they met Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals of the Europa League last season.

  • Tottenham have kept five clean sheets across their eight matches in all competitions this season.

  • Bodo/Glimt have seen BTTS in each of their last six matches in all competitions.

  • This will be Bodo/Glimt’s first ever Champions League home game.
