Real Betis travel to Villarreal on Saturday evening, as they look to extend their six-game unbeaten streak across all competitions.

Los Verdiblancos took three points from the La Ceramica Stadium last season, and they will leapfrog the Yellow Submarine into third if they can repeat that feat again this weekend and maintain their positive run of form.

4 Selections @ 4.75

Villarreal Double Chance @ 1.22

But that promises to be no easy task - Villarreal have won all four of their home matches this season in the league by an aggregate score of 10-1, which includes victories against Athletic Club and Osasuna. They also managed to secure a 2-2 draw against Juventus in the Champions League, which highlights their strong performances in front of a home crowd.

On a similar note, Betis have started the season well, buoyed by some strong home performances. However, they have won just one of their four league matches on the road, drawing the other three. It was a similar story for them last season - Los Verdiblancos had an average of 1.79 points per game at the Benito Villamarin Stadium, compared to just 1.37 points per game on their travels. To highlight their disparity in performances, Betis had a +11 goal difference at home, compared to a -4 goal difference on the road.

Both Teams to Score @ 1.61

Still, it is worth noting that Betis have scored in every game so far this season, and it’s going to take some effort to keep them at bay. BTTS landed in both league meetings between these sides last season, as Real Betis won 2-1 on their trip to the La Ceramica Stadium, before falling to defeat against the Yellow Submarine on home turf - once again, that game finished 2-1.

Those results mean BTTS has now landed in each of the last five head-to-head encounters between Real Betis and Villarreal. In fact, in the last ten meetings, Villarreal have won four, Real Betis have won four, and there have been two draws - these two sides have been incredibly well matched in recent years, and once again it seems like there is little to split the two. Expecting an even contest, BTTS becomes a target market.

Cucho Hernandez Over 0.5 Shots on Target @ 1.40

After arriving from MLS side Columbus Crew, Cucho Hernandez scored just five goals in 15 appearances last season for Betis. However, the departure of Vitor Roque has opened up a window of opportunity for him to feature more regularly, and he has so far seized that opportunity this campaign. The 26-year-old has scored in each of his last four straight starts for Real Betis, helping his side pick up ten points in those games.

Cucho seems to be playing with a lot more confidence, and is well on track to improve on his goal-scoring tally from last season massively. He has racked up a total of 26 shots in La Liga, which is more than any Betis player, with the Colombian international averaging 3.31 shots per 90. Cucho has played the full 90 in each of his last three league matches, highlighting the trust and confidence placed in him by Manuel Pellegrini.

Santiago Comesana Over 0.5 Fouls Committed @ 1.20

Real Betis rank rock bottom of the Spanish top flight for total fouls committed this season, but they have been adept at drawing free-kicks. In fact, Los Verdiblancos rank third in La Liga for total fouls drawn this term, fouled on average 14.3 times per game.

The attacking trio of Antony, Giovani Lo Celso, and Abde Ezzalzouli have been the most effective players at drawing contact. In fact, Lo Celso has drawn the second-most fouls in the league this season, while Ezzalzouli ranks 11th. However, the Moroccan international has only started three games - he is averaging an eye-catching 5.31 fouls drawn per 90, while Lo Celso is averaging 3.75 fouls drawn per 90.

Pape Gueye and Santiago Comesana will have the tough task of trying to contain these players, and it’s set to be a real battle in midfield. The latter is averaging 1.45 fouls per 90 this campaign, and has registered an infringement in all five starts this season when playing at least 60 minutes.

📈 Villarreal v Real Betis Form & Tactics

Villarreal came into this game having failed to win either of their last two matches before the international break, but they were tough matchups. The Yellow Submarine were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, after securing a point against Juventus in the Champions League at home. Georges Mikautadze scored in both of those games, as the Georgian international really seems to be finding his feet for his new club.

Prior to that, Villarreal had won three successive La Liga matches, meaning their points tally of 16 is good enough to put them in third, just three points behind Barcelona.

After winning just one of their first five league matches, Los Verdiblancos come into this clash on a three-game winning streak in the Spanish top flight, which puts them just one point behind their weekend opponents. Betis also remain unbeaten in Europe, having drawn against Nottingham Forest and beating Ludogorets. Those results put them ninth in the Europa League standings, and in strong contention to secure automatic qualification to the knockouts.

Both sides come into this game in a positive period of form, making this clash nicely set up to be an entertaining one.

📔 Villarreal v Real Betis Formation & Team News

Diego Llorente and Marc Bartra are expected to return for Betis later in the month, but they may find it difficult to get back in the eleven, as Valentin Gomez and Natan have formed a solid partnership, keeping two clean sheets in their last three matches.

In forward areas, Antony, Lo Celso and Cucho Hernandez are likely to feature, while Ezzalzouli could retain his place on the left over Rodrigo Riquelme, who seems to have fallen out of favour in recent weeks.

Santiago Mounino was sent off for Villarreal just before the international break, so will be suspended for this clash. 20-year-old Pau Navarro could be the one to start in his place.

Ayoze Perez and Gerard Moreno remain sidelined through injury, so Nicolas Pepe and Georges Mikautadze seem set to reclaim their starting spots after only featuring for the second half against Real Madrid just before the break. Tajon Buchanan and Alberto Moleiro were the players replaced in that match, but they will be hoping to provide width for the Yellow Submarine this weekend and start on either flank.
