Crystal Palace v West Ham Bet Builder 🧱 @ 5.40
Jarrod Bowen has 10 goals and nine assists from his 36 appearances across all competitions this season, and he will hope to build on those numbers further this weekend. The West Ham skipper has an excellent record against Crystal Palace, and has scored in each of his last two starts against the Eagles.
That includes finding the back of the net in the reverse fixture at the London Stadium, despite West Ham losing 2-1. He had two shots in that match, and the other went narrowly over the bar.
Bowen is central to almost everything West Ham do in the final third, which has been the case for several seasons now. He recorded three shots with one on target against Wolves last time out, taking his average to 2.19 shots per 90 for the season overall, which is one of the highest figures in the Hammers’ squad.
Crysencio Summerville made his return from a calf injury against Wolves last Friday, and his presence on the left wing is a massive bonus for West Ham. Although he didn’t draw a foul, Summerville still managed three shots last weekend, and he looked sharp throughout. The Dutchman is one of the hardest players in the division to contain in one-on-one situations, and he is adept at using his body to draw free kicks. Summerville is averaging 2.31 fouls drawn per 90 in the league this season, and he has been fouled 50 times in total - that is more than any other West Ham player.
His likely matchup here is Daniel Munoz, who isn’t one to hesitate when flying into a challenge. The Colombian international racked up six fouls against Newcastle recently, highlighting his aggressive approach. Summerville often looks to beat his marker, so Munoz looks set for a large defensive involvement this weekend.
Wolves managed just two corners against West Ham last weekend, but Crystal Palace should be able to pose a much greater threat in the final third, particularly at Selhurst Park. There were 16 corners in the reverse fixture in September, with eight apiece, and another high corner count is on the cards here. Palace are considerably more enterprising in their approach at home, and they are averaging 5.0 corners per game at Selhurst Park, compared to 4.17 when playing away. They like to utilise width and get crosses into the box, which usually makes corners a target.
West Ham have conceded an average of 6.41 corners per game in the Premier League this season, which is one of the highest in the league. Their opponents have recorded at least five corners in each of their last 11 successive away matches in the league.
It hasn’t been an easy season for Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace, but they look as good as they have at any point this campaign. They demolished Fiorentina 3-0 in the Conference League quarter-final first leg on their return from the international break, before completing a dramatic comeback against Newcastle last weekend. Jean-Philippe Mateta bagged in both of those games, including a brace against the Magpies, and he seems to have the backing of the Palace faithful once again.
West Ham are also a team in good form, and their 4-0 win over Wolves was one of their most convincing performances of the season. Taty Castellanos and Konstantinos Mavropanos both scored twice, as the Hammers racked up 18 shots and six big chances. Nuno Espirito Santo's side have hit a rich vein of form at the perfect time, and they will need to keep their attack-minded approach up in their hopes of remaining in the top-flight.
